This is actually pretty awesome... huge 60's production; spooky embellishments; Beach Boys choruses

Forgot about "Born Under a Bad Sign".

Hawley and Hendrix both got the song from Cream (a vehicle for Eric Clapton) . And Cream got it from blues guitarist Albert King.

There was a country song in the sixties called "I Was Born Under a Wandering Star".

Lee Marvin sang it in Paint Your Wagon.

This is a lovely song, as well as being muchos appropriate.

You probably already know about these.

There's 12 of them (obvs). Apparently the LP featured the first commercial use of a MOOG synthesizer. Which I thought was quite nice.

OMG, someone else has come across this! I had a copy of this album once that I found in a thrift store (might still have it tucked away somewhere for all I know). It says 'Must be played in the dark' on the back of the sleeve. I figured, given the era, you were probably supposed to be stoned as well.

IDK if this qualifies, but a lot of the artwork shown is astrological.

"Mercury" by Bloc Party is another. The repeated lyric about Mercury being in retrograde is a reference to an astrological reading which indicates a highly unstable period of time wherein all sorts of setbacks are expected to occur. Mercury usually governs the areas of communication and mobility; when it goes into retrograde and appears to be moving backwards, these areas are diminished. The result is that machinery breaks down, appointments are missed, and relationships go through rough patches. For this reason, when Mercury is in retrograde, it is advisable that no major decisions-- like legally binding contracts or new relationships-- should be undertaken. Otherwise, they could backfire and cause some serious headaches. On the bright side, though, Mercury in retrograde is also supposedly a good time to take stock of one's life and past associations before moving forward once more.

Knowing all of that drastically helps in deciphering the song.

Thanks for posting Chevand :D Highly astrological

Mercury is retrograde right now, and will be until August the 26th.

I noticed that facebook's run of having a half usable chat facility started getting ballsed up during the last few days.

I find that during mercury retrograde periods, 'stuff' comes up that needs completing or addressing from before; standing issues that haven't been properly dealt with. We get an opportunity to rethink and rediscover anything we might have been missing in the preceding months.

I feel they are periods to do more mental processing and less communicating. A time to 'bed in' what has been learned over the last few months. Introspective and retrospective thinking. I would put more of an emphasis on meditation during this time.

I do feel that it's not a time to make big decisions or lasting commitments. A new lease or a new love are definitely not a good idea.

If Mercury was retrograde at the time of your birth, you might be an exception to the rule, and experience something like having a mental boost at this time; feeling quick witted, articulate and whizzy minded.

Couldn't think of very many songs related directly to the zodiac, signs, etc. (aside from the obvious - "Aquarius" by The 5th Dimension) That being said, here are some songs with words like "sky", space", "star", and other cosmologically related terms, most of which have a "space-y" enough sound that I thought would fit with this discussion. Anyway, here goes!!

It will take me a long time to get through that list!

I did just listen (and watch, I hardly ever watch videos, but this one is quite interesting and beautifully crafted) to this one:

P.P.S. I realize many songs with the word "moon" could fit here as well, but IMO that deserves its own separate category!! :D

I can think of an almost unlimited list of Moon songs :)
