Eccentric, by After Forever

What do they see when they look at me?
Who are they to judge me
If they never spoke with me
Never looked without laughing
Never tried to see, see me

I can't believe that it is only me
The person to hate
The only left out
I can't believe how they can be so mean
If they could feel the brutal stings of their words
And the bitter cold when they laugh

Once more I'm running
Running away, I must hide
Can't take anymore
A fight to free me from an endless struggle with life
Running, tell me how far should I go
If they're all the same
This fight
I'm fighting my way through

I don't really want to be like them
The way they behave
The way that they live
I don't really need someone
No people like that
Someone in a world with wars and respite
A world without the feeling

I must be running
Running away, I must hide
Can't take anymore
A fight to free me from an endless struggle with life
Running, tell me how far should I go
If they're all the same
This fight
I'm fighting my way through

STRAW: Shoplifting.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shoplifting-Str ... &s=gateway

If we get dropped I will sail out of the window
Clutching the artwork to my debut single
We'll fly past the helicopters, high over St. Pauls
Head for the ocean, I will live with the seagulls
I don't want to talk about it
I'm just glad we've failed..
I'm living the high life for you, yeah
I'd burn down the high rise for you, yeah...
I'm moving to California
At least, that's what I'm telling my friends...
- MOVING TO CALIFORNIA -

I woke up to howling sunlight
Prayed for the morning silence to end
Based on my favourite pastime
I'm going to kill your boyfriend

I will wait 'til summer's over
I will waste away until, somehow... overdone, I'm gone
I'm long gone
Is that all?
Unhappy with myself...

Summer's like broken winter
Watching the people fade from view
Keep passing the open windows
I guess I'm still falling out with you

If I choose not to, not to do
I don't need nobody else
I'm happy with myself
Unhappy with myself
F-cked it up again...
- KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND -

He said I'll never be the face on a magazine
I hate my clothes and my hair and my genes
Type it out with 40,000 chimpanzees
And come and play with the muppet that looks like me
And my friends
And everyone else who knows me

Always a pleasure never a chore
A red light flashing on and off for applause
A comfort blanket for the open sores of my friends
And everyone else who knows me

Everybody loves me
Always thinking of me
Everybody wants to be my special friend... oh joy
Everybody loves me
Always thinking of me
An anthem for the low in self esteem...
- ANTHEM FOR THE LOW IN SELF-ESTEEM -

Here are the lyrics of "Alien" by Atlanta Rhythm Section. The song is over 20 years old, but when I was growing up, I related to it and still do.

The sun just went behind a cloud again
Down crowded streets he walks alone
He's a stranger out of place
A number not a face
All day long, he's all alone

He's feelin' like an alien
Feeelin' like he don't belong
Have mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back hom

The feeling that he feels he can't explain
Sunday Monday Tuesday they're all the same
He's lost and all alone
A heart without a home
Standing like a statue in the rain

He's feelin' like an alien
Feeling like he don't belong
Have mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back home

Now and then we are all are aliens
Feeling like we don't belong
Have Mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back home

You know that one rap song that goes "Don't, push, me, cause, I'm close, to, the, edge.."

Well there's one part in it that kinda reminded me of AS.

A child is born without a state of mind,
blind, to the ways of man-kind.
He smiles at you but he's frowning too,
cause only god knows what you're gonna do.

hmmmm...these things are more related to being different, not wanting to be "normal", insecurity and depression.

common to the typical "alto". asps just have similar issues. its just not being another sheep in the flock, but an individual

everyone has moments they just wanna be alone. everyone can be preoccupied by stuff on their mind. these arent specific asp issues.

Hum - Stars Lyrics
She thinks she missed the train to mars, she's out back
countingstarsShe's not at work, she's not at
schoolShe's not in bed, i think i finally broke
herI bring her home everything i want, nothing that she
needsI thought she'd be there holding daisies, she
always waits formeShe thinks she missed the train to mars,
she's out back countingstarsI found her out back
sitting naked looking up and looking deada crumpled yellow
piece of paper, seven nines and tensI thought she'd
be there holding daisies, she always waits formeShe thinks
she missed the train to mars, she's out back
countingstarsI thought you'd be there holding daisy,
you always wait for meShe thinks she missed the train to
mars, she's out back countingstars

Hm, not simply about alienation but with an Aspie feel. Well, I second "I am a Rock" because it goes beyond alienation, but lusic that seems Aspie to me... a lot of older composers, Bach especially. Let me think about newer ones, songs that appeal to me and seem to fit the criteria.

Well, there's the first part of "Everybody's Talkin'" by Nilsson:

Everybody's talkin' at me.
I don't hear a word they're sayin',
Only the echoes of my mind.

People stoppin' starin'
I can't see the faces,
Only the shadows of their eyes.

Irishwhistle, that's interesting that you mention Bach. I love Bach - his music reflects the wiggles that are always in my mind!

I love seeing NIN here,

oh and I've posted about him before, but Devin Townsend is definately the first musician that hit me in a way that made me feel totally connected..

Lyrics for The Fluke from the album Terria

I am a Fluke in the world
I haven't spoken a single word
I'll have to wade through the BS
Baby just to find my own vision of pearl
I am a fluke in your world
And even tho it's a bit absurd
I've been living in a dreamworld man
And I hope you'll enjoy what I've heard

Can't you see through me?
Can't you hear through me?
Just a moment in time...

FREAK!! ! ...FLUKE!! !

Down and under I've felt the toll
You can't hurt me any more

I'm not afraid of you anymore!

Can't you see through me?
Can't you hear through me?
...Corona without a lime.

You guys have GOT to hear this stuff :D Start with one of these 4 albums (Infinity, Synchestra, Ocean Machine, Terria..) and I bet heaps of you will be hooked, there is no music like this.

Those are just the main lyrics, Dev tends to pile in the layers, but in a way thats so welcoming and overwhelming at the same time.

How about DEVO?

Blockhead

never leaves a gap unfilled
always pays on time
always fits the bill
he comes well prepared
cube top squared off
eight corners 90 degree angles
flat top stares straight ahead
stock parts snake eyes blockhead
never tips over stands up on his own
he is a blockhead thinking man full grown
he comes well prepared
