So yeah, one of my greatest musical "obsessions" I pretty much love YMO. In fact my username is a Sakamoto/Yellow Magic Orchestra song. Yellow Magic Orchestra was a japanese electropop? group that started up in the late 70s, and I pretty much think they're the coolest thing since...I don't even know, but they're really cool. I personally feel they made the best electronic music of the era, and they're extremely underrated as most people tend to concentrate alot on what Kraftwerk did at the time. Anyway, I love YMO and Ryuichi Sakamoto, so here's some stuff by them. One thing I see in YMO, too, is that their music is very dystopian sounding, but at the same time, just sorta accepting it as a fact of life. But yeah, Yellow Magic Orchestra, anyone else familiar with them or like them?

Rydeen is a good tune. A tinny electronic (well, more electronic) version of it was used (without permission, I expect) as the theme music to a computer game, and I was familiar with it from there before hearing the original. Linky.

I've only listened to a couple of their albums.
I like a lot of 20th century Japanese music--like Okabayashi (岡林信康), Sakamoto (坂本九)--then some more modern rock/indie rock bands, like SAKEROCK/Sakerock, くるり (which is commonly romanized as "Quruli", I think?), kicell, etc.
But I liked what I heard of YMO. And some of Takahashi Yukihiro's solo stuff.
