The music that defines me is punk rock, hardcore, grunge, Riot Grrrl... anything angry, rebellious and pissed-off!

Can't Find My Way Home by Blind Faith (1969)
One of the saddest songs I have ever heard. I know Steve Winwood wrote it about a friend who was addicted to drugs but, I can relate to the lyrics in the song so much. To me, they also speak to someone who desperately wants to be in a relationship but never will. How Soon Is Now? by The Smiths is also a song that I can 100% relate to. Like one of the previous posters said, that song was written for me.

The album The Wall, yeah whole album more or less not just one song...but I doubt I am the only one who can relate to that album.

You're not. Ten years ago, the whole album was a metaphor for my life. I had my room decorated in it-- quotes written on blank white note cards and plastered to the walls in a masonry pattern. Lots of the quotes were, natch, from The Wall.

"All alone, or in twos, the ones who really love you march up and down outside the wall. Some hand in hand, or gathered together in bands, the bleeding hearts and the artists make their stand. And when they've given you their all, some stagger and fall-- after all, it's not easy banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall."

That's a pretty happy ending, if you read it right.

Mine?? Soul Asylum-- most of the albums Grave Dancers Union and Let Your Dim Light Shine. Especially "Without A Trace," "Promises Broken," and "I Did My Best."

Goo Goo Dolls, "Iris."

I could do this for hours, especially one-finger typing (lol). That's not going to get my housework done or my unruly three-year-old dealt with.

This is a Christmas song, but I find that the lyrics in the first two verses reflect my feelings about growing up and leaving childhood behind:

Speaking of songs that remind me of leaving childhood behind (the on screen lyrics are in another language, but the actual song is in English):

In many cases the entire song applies to me, but I'll just list the most poignant lines since I have a bunch.

"In the Garage" by Weezer. "In the garage, I feel safe, no one cares about my ways; In the garage where I belong, no one hears me sing this song."

"The Good Life" by Weezer. "Screw this crap, I've had it! I ain't no Mr. Cool. I'm a pig, I'm a dog, so excuse me if I drool. I ain't gonna hurt nobody, ain't gonna cause a scene, I just need to admit that I want sugar in my tea."

"Run Over by a Truck" by Weezer. "I feel like I've been run over by a truck, I don't care much about anything, I'm happy to sing, I'm lacking the passion to do anything."

"Pork and Beans" by Weezer. "I'mma do the things that I wanna do, I ain't got a thing to prove to you. I'll eat my candy with the pork and beans, excuse my manners if I make a scene. I ain't gonna wear the clothes that you like, I'm fine and dandy with the me inside. One look in the mirror and I'm tickled pink, I don't give a hoot about what you think."

"No Cigar" by Millencolin. "Cause I don't care where I belong no more. What we share or not I will ignore."

"Liberty" by Agnostic Front. "They say we're born to lose, we got the right to choose, Do what we wanna do, Be what we wanna be. They say we're out of touch, Well their opinions don't mean that much to me."

"Love to be Hated" by Agnostic Front. "Well, I know somebody somewhere is gonna make me feel alright. Well, I know somebody somewhere is gonna piss me off tonight."

"Half-Life" by Local H. "Half-life, fake your claim, falling asleep and waking up is the same. Half alive and half dead too, work is for suckers and the sucker is you."

"Catcher in the Rye" by Guns N' Roses. "If I thought that I was crazy then I guess I'd have more fun, Cause what used to be is not there for me, And ought to for someone that belongs insane like I do."

"Yesterdays" by Guns N' Roses. "Yesterday there were so many things I was never shown, Suddenly this time I've found I'm on the street and I'm all alone."

"Well-Adjusted" by MxPx. "I pretend to be so well adjusted, maybe it's just me and I'm disgusted."
