I heard of Buckethead today and it is awesome.
I really like instrumental music but don't know many artist or bands, I would like to know some more.

The last one of Burmese guitarist Chit San Maung from Iron Cross is one of my favourites and illustrates why I think he's the best guitarist on the planet.

Nice list redrobin62 ;). I haven't listened to Yngwie in a while. I think you should definitely check out Steve Vai and Joe Satriani as well. Most of their stuff is less bombastic than Buckethead's music but Vai gets pretty insane. I'd also highly recommend John Petrruci's instrumental album Suspended Animation as well as his side-project Liquid Tension Experiment and Liquid Tension Experiment 2.

I can help! I kind of knew of Buckethead but hadn't listened to it. I started today after seeing your post (so thank you!) but not gone through everything yet. First of, there are lots of genres in "instrumental music". I tried matching the general feel to what you might be after, but have way more music to recommend too (but not if you just want the guitar-riffy type..). So here it goes:

Had to include these too :)

(couldn't find the right version on youtube so here's the spotify link - http://open.spotify.com/track/697Z0uU2Yul60gxuKVo15B - that entire album is instrumental. most of the artists I posted do only instrumental stuff, though.)

These are just what I thought you might like, not representative of my entire music-taste. Hope you enjoy (or someone else looking after that kind of instrumental music). Cheers!

Well, instrumental music is an absolutely huge category, there are so many different types and styles it's not even funny lol. I've never heard of buckethead (other than googling some of their music just now), but I'll post a few instrumental selections that you might enjoy based on what I heard.

David Gilmour writes some excellent instrumentals:

Stevie Ray Vaughan - my favorite guitarist!

And a bit of Bach by a really great player - not too similar to buckethead but I've always gotta sneak him in there ;)

Angel VIvaldi, Absent Distance (2010-2011 collection is almost all instrumental), Intervals, Returning We Hear the Larks (Alpha and Of Marduk especially), Chimaira's songs Implements of Destruction, Samsara and The Heart of It All are all good.

Most of what I mentioned is progressive metal.

As already observed, instrumental music is a pretty huge category....

For something a bit different, here's one from Albert Collins a bluesman famous for his instrumentals.

Eventually you might like Michał Jelonek, his genre could be described like a mix of classic and rock:
One of his rock songs:

Two of his calmer, emotional songs:

And a pretty balanced mix of rock and emotional melody:

He is one of my favourite instrumental artists and can play the violin very well in my opinion. :)

I've always enjoyed Steve Morse. Think you'll like it. He also was with the Dixie Dregs.

Maybe somebody said it already, but Jeff Beck is worth a listen as well.
