The Man From Mars.

True life account of Ray Palmer (yes, he did inspire DC comic's, the Atom), editor of Amazing Science Fiction, and one of the most influential figures in the genre. Written like a novel, the book goes through Palmer's life as a child severely crippled by an accident, to a scifi fan, to writer, to editor, how he helped inspire the UFO craze, and more darkly, how he had fallen for Richard Shaver's schizophrenic ravings about a sadistic subterranean race called Deros who he held responsible for all criminality and mental illness. So far an enjoyable book.

Lines In The Sand by AA Gill - a collection of essays published posthumously. The one on Brexit is outstanding.

The One That Got Away by Caroline Owens

The author was kidnapped by the serial killers Fred and Rose West in the early 70s, and narrowly escaped becoming one of their murder victims. This is an account of that event and of her life in general. Not brilliant stuff, but quite interesting.

Porn, by Matt Shaw.

Extreme horror novel about a female porn star who gets gruesome revenge on the director who had gotten her exposed to AIDS. So far very dark and grim.

Re-reading ‘Ludwig Wittgenstein: The Duty of Genius’ by Ray Monk. Masterpiece of a biography on the Austrian philosopher.

Wittgenstein stayed in Ireland on a few occasions - I even did his coffee breakfast in Bewleys Cafe (Grafton Street, Dublin) followed by a walk in his (possible) footsteps around the Botanic Gardens (he used to sit on the palm house steps). I was trying to teach myself and my son something of the essence of W.’s Tractatus and thought this way might be interesting for us both. It was an absolutely hopeless case - I knew less after reading my notes than I did when I was writing them - we ended up just watching the resident squirrels doing their squirrelly thing.

Hi, guys!
Recently I've read a book 'You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living' by Jen Sincero. It very motivates to act and inspires to believe in your dreams!

Years Best Hardcore Horror Vol. 3.

So far very well written short fiction, but not for the faint of heart.

Kurpfalz

My people had come from Germany way back in the 19th century. My paternal ancestors were Black Sea Germans - that is, they came from the Kurpfalz or Electoral Palatinate (present day northwest Baden-Wurttemberg i.e. the Kraichgau) before immigrating to Czarist Russia. My maternal ancestors came from East Prussia and Bavaria.
