I always thought the Beach Boys were a surfer band. When people talked about exquisite vocal harmonies and baroque orchestration I assumed that one or two of their songs had nice string arrangements and some close vocal harmonies. Then I listened to Pet Sounds and im utterly in awe of it.Some of the songs had moments that almost made me tear up they were so bittersweet.

Point of this thread is to link to any artists who have amazing orchestration or vocal harmonies and to discuss why you love the Beach Boys!!

Fact - I prefer the Beach Boys to the Beatles and The Rolling Stones

Same here XD Though I was never the biggest Beatles or Stones fan tbh. I know that's like sacrilege but apart from a few select songs they never really "did it" for me.
Most Philly Soul will have the orchestration and vocal harmony. I think Curtis Mayfield is considered Philadelphia Soul. The five stairsteps are definitely in that loose orbit
