Anyone else heard this or like it?
I have loved the music since I was small.

Yes, I really like the Jeff Wayne musical, although I've never heard it in its entireity.

When I was 4 I read the HG Wells novel (the first one I ever read). My dad worked in radio, so he made a cassette copy of the album, although he couldn't fit it all on, so it wasn't all there.

With the 2 re-releases, I keep meaning to go buy a copy. The show is coming here this year, so I should really see it.

I love Forever Autumn, it sums up so many of my relationships. Also love Richard Burton, better than Morgan Freeman, better even than Orson Welles (and that's saying something!)

One thing about reading the book when I was so young: I thought it was real. I thought the Earth really was invaded by aliens 70-odd years before, and we only survived by the skin of our teeth.

I've always been a big fan of WOTW, both the musical and the book ( I disliked the films, as I felt they strayed too far from the original premise). My father bought me a copy of the 7-disc collectors edition as a gift for graduating college. I found the DVD very interesting, as it goes into great detail about the inspiration and construction of each song, and details some of the adversities the team came up against (such as when the master tape for the fourth side was accidentally destroyed and how they literally sifted through a rubbish tip to try and find the pieces)

I haven't heard that since the 80's I think. I love Phil Lynott. I've been meaning to get a copy of this.

I love Wells too. The Invisible Man was one of the 1st novels I read as a kid, probably about 7 or 8. It was cerainly the first sci fi novel I read.

I keep meaning to read the book, but like many things, I tend to go for the musical versions or dramatisations first, lol.
I have the original on CD here.
But when I saw the DVD I had to have it.
I am not keen on the floating head narrator though... it seems a little odd.

must be a different DVD. mine was just narrated by Jeff as he wanders round Horsell common, a music studio, his home, primrose hill (that's the name I think) and various other parts of surrey.

This is the stage version only released within the last year.
It is going on tour this December in the Uk.

You should, it's one of the most influential novels of the 20th century, the first ever instance of the alien invasion story.

I just considered Spirit Of Man, Brave New World and Forever Autumn to be the best.

I only know that the WOTW stage version is coming round again in the UK - a short tour of 13 dates this December starting in Belfast on 2 December and ending in London at the O2 (sorry, it should be a little two as in chemical formula for oxygen - or was that O1) on 22 December.

Anyway, so to simply repeat what you said above Graelwyn. I only meant to say I hope to make the London gig, so I may see some of you there.
