Micro-Fiction is prose that is 300 words or less. You can be funny or serious as you want.

"I Need to Find Him & Follow Him"

Well, what do you know?! I was just checking on the weather and I realized that he is still out there trying to get home for the day.

Even though he has his phone & his card to get his money whenever he needs it, sometimes it can be a little bit problematic because he gets into dangerous situations without explaining how it happened to begin with.

Waiting for a call or text from him during times such as unexpected inclement weather often causes anxiety in me.

I know for a fact that he will find his own place in the world & he will be able to get his desires fulfilled.

Don't accuse him of anything he's not. Just because he has made many acquaintances who are different unlike him over the years does not mean he's the same.

Now if you excuse me, let me talk to my boss to try & convince my boss to let me get off early for the day just to find him and follow him.

Thank you for your understanding.

He felt a dull thud, as his Lamborghini hit and then rolled over something big in the early morning, after a night of gambling and drinking at the Casino. His father, one of the state’s wealthiest business owners, had given him the car for his twenty-third birthday.

He was listening to loud music, and hadn’t been paying attention to the road as he drove swiftly down the Casino Road, after losing a few thousand dollars at the black jack table. He pulled over and got out of his car, concerned that he might have damaged the car’s exterior. He looked it over, and was relieved not to see so much as a dent or minor scratch.

Out of curiosity, he then looked to see what might have intruded upon his vehicle’s path. He saw a woman holding her left arm close to her body, and writhing in pain. She wore a uniform that identified her as a casino employee. He said “Are you okay?” She spoke no English, and did not answer, other than to continue wailing. He approached her. Her skin was tenting, and she appeared to have a broken clavicle.

He remembered having taken a course in first aid at the community college, and had a spare sling in his glove compartment. He returned to his car, and retrieved the sling. He placed the sling on the woman’s arm, and told her to go to the hospital emergency room. She did not understand what he was saying, but at least he fulfilled his part of the social contract, to his satisfaction.

He returned to his car, and sped away, confident in the knowledge that his family’s reputation would remain unsoiled.

A 23-year-old man, who has little college education, and who is the son of the state’s wealthiest businessman, is walking his pet anteater on a footpath in a nature preserve, which occupies a portion of his family’s estate. Several servants keep the estate’s large gardens in beautiful form. It is more beautiful and larger than the Palace of Versailles. Most of a day would be required to walk around the property’s perimeter, which is surrounded by a big, beautiful wall with numerous turrets.

The pet anteater stops to drink in the nature preserve’s pond. What looks like a very large log floats towards the anteater. The anteater is excited, because large logs are often a place where an abundance of ants may be found, and anteaters love to eat ants.

The man is wearing expensive alligator-skin shoes, and a very expensive crocodile-skin jacket. He notices a similarity between the log’s exterior and his shoes and jacket. He also notices that the object which resembles a large floating log has a pair of eyes glaring in his direction, plus two nostrils at the anterior end.

Suddenly the object, which he thought was a log, but which is, in fact, a very large alligator, opens its mouth, grabs the anteater, and drags it to the bottom of the pond. Deeply saddened at the loss of his pet, the man returns home. He is also worried that, if his parents find out, then they will be very disappointed that he is failing to live up to his family’s name. No member of his family, back as many generations as have been recorded, has ever lost a pet anteater to a crocodilian.

During the night, the man is awakened by an angel, who tells him “Peace be with you. Don’t feel bad. And have no fear. Your anteater lives. She has married the alligator. Return to the pond tomorrow, and you will find that your anteater has miraculously given birth to alligator-anteater hybrids.”

The man wakes up, and does as the angel says. By the pond, the alligator and anteater are snuggling together, surrounded by their children who are playing together.

The anteater says to the man “Here! I have reserved one of my children for you to bring home for a pet! I will live the rest of my days here by the pond with my husband alligator.”

Salim sat slightly outside the afternoon sun under an abandoned railway bridge in an industrial area of New York City. The underpass had straight beige-gray walls - nearly perpendicular to the ground on both sides and exuding in triangular tapers.

He sat and stared at the wall his opposite, the one he'd decided had more potential, as if his eyes were trying to bore holes through the opaque surface of the concrete to distill the metadata of it's memories. He wanted to know - what has this cement embankment seen in it's lifetime? What's it's story?

He looked around the edges of the wall, traced the angles, noted the ivy crawling it's way down near a corner of the bridge and meeting - what to him at least - was the upper-right corner of the wall.

What will it see? What is it that hasn't arrived? How can I bind this in?

It was then - with his eyes closed - he could see it. A black dog came out of the sunlight looking for his owner and died down here heartbroken. He'd found his owner but not in the manner he'd hoped. Both the loneliness in the dog's eyes and hope in seeing him was more than enough to get started. Salim put on his face vent mask, grabbed the blacks, silvers, greens, blues, golds, and began to carve arcs in the air. He stayed at it for at least an hour.

The result? A rusted, futuristic, plant-inhabited set of 3D wild-style bubble letters scrawling the name 'Al Jabir' across the wall, along with the face of a very happy and exalted black dog - wearing a wizard's hat no less! - who'd been freed by the love of a painter.

All the Way to Success

Everyone look at me!

I don't think like a political candidate, but I believe that in order to make sure I get all the others out of the way, I ask to all of you who are willing to find out where the others are and ruin them on my behalf.

I will pay you a good amount for your actions, so when I finish brainwashing all of you into believing I must be placed back in office, come forward and your training will begin.

I've never believed in the concept of personal morals, so when the others are taken out of the way, you will be named as part of my team.

Sorry Sister, But Someone Has to Keep the Family Tradition Going Even Now

"Didn't you hear me! I said give up your criminal ways!"

"Sorry sister, but someone has to keep the family tradition going even now!"

After she drove off to likely rob some banks, my new unexpected husband looked at me and said, "Let's go after her!"

"But honey, she's my sister! I just can't change my mind immediately!"

After we watched my sister for what seemed like several minutes, I said back to my new unexpected husband, "Okay fine, we'll give her a five-minute start, then we go after her!"

So we did after five minutes. We got into my car and drove after my sister like we were cops chasing after a ruthless criminal.
