Does anyone else write fiction from an introspective standpoint? My characters in my latest book are based on the different sides of my personality, and their experiences are a more futuristic version of mine.

Does anyone else do this?

In general I would say that the answer to your question is "yes".

I have an INTJ personality type. An INTJ wrote about one aspect of this trait. “We usually see things from a million perspectives.” “We can stay alone for a loooong time: because there is a party going on inside our heads. A 100 voices talking, debating with each other about the best course of action around something.”

A few other personality types may also have this gift.

In a way, I have developed thousands of different personas. They allow me to look at any problem from a thousand different perspectives. So writers often have this trait and their personas become the characters in their books.

William Burroughs had observed that all fiction is autobiographical.
I agree to a greater or lesser degree.

I think that every author may go through a "Mary Sue" (or "Marty Stu") phase.
