These are really just the first 5 things that popped into my head that I can listen to for a long time, I have a lot more than five favorite bands.

It is difficult to choose only five bands, but I generally list them in this order:

1. Blind Guardian (always number 1)
2. Iron Maiden
3. Helloween
4. Iced Earth
5. Nile

Now I'm going to perseverate over whether or not I should have included Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, In Flames, or Death as number 5.

I think I'd have to go with these five:

1. The Beatles
2. Beck
3. Alison Krauss (I also really like the bluegrass band she performs with sometimes, Union Station)
4. Aretha Franklin (when I'm feeling good) Nirvana (when I'm feeling not so good)
5. Weird Al :D

And Jimmy Eat World and Eric Clapton and Radiohead and Tori Amos and Louis Armstrong and sorry I know you said five, I just can't control myself when it comes to naming bands!
