For Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan fans: Are you listening to the short dub remixes or the long traditional qawwali?

While the dub versions are kind of cool, I think it sort of detracts from the spirit of his work and the meaning and purpose of qawwali music. Also, if you like the dub stuff, there's a remix album of Vieux Farka Toure stuff that's pretty cool, and Karsh Kale does a lot of remixed Indian music. Karsh Kale did an album with Anoushka Shankar that I really like.

Let's see......some samples from my playlist

Darkwave: Project Pitchfork, Diary Of Dreams, Deine Lakaein
NDH Rock/Metal: Rammstien, Megaherz, Eisbrecher, Unheilig
Mittelalter Rock: In Extremo, Tanzwut
Industrial Rock: NIN, Ministry, Dope Stars Inc
Classic EBM: Front 242, DAF, Absolute Body Control, Die Krupps
Harsh EBM: The Retrosic, Punto Omega
Electronic Industrial: Front Line Assembly, Leaetherstrip
Futurepop: VNV Nation, Covenant (both were more industrial once - I like both eras)
80s New Wave: Joy Division, Gary Numan, Human League
Goth Rock: Sisters Of Mercy, Star Industry
Neofolk/Martial: Boyd Rice, Blood Axis, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio
Prog-Rock: King Crimson, Yes, ELP
Crossover Dance: Underworld, Prodigy
New Age: Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre
Metal: I'm quite picky about how I like my metal but Metallica, System Of A Down and Machine Head all figure on my playlists

Also dip into punk rock, various 'alternative rock' bands from the late 60s to present day, some trance and hard house, ambient, oddball electronic stuff, classical and whatever else takes my fancy. Have even been known to listen to country!

I don't like r'n'b, soul, rap, garage, funk or reggae. Nothing against them in principle, they just don't strike any chords with me.

In no order at all....or when I even came across them( i.e. copied and pasted from bookface, there would be loads more, but these are the artists of whom who I like most of their work)

Stephen Malkmus/Pavement, Slint, Danzig(a somewhat guilty pleasure there!! !),Parliament, Kyuss, QOTSA, UNKLE, Jeff Buckley, Mark Lanegan, Gutter Twins, Twilight Singers, Sigur Ros, AC DC, Sugar, Grant lee buffalo, Death in Vegas, Johnny Cash, Underworld, Clutch, Robert Johnston, The Felice Brothers, Neil Young, Dr John, Quicksand, Big Black, Rollins, Renegade Soundwave, Little Axe, Sabres of Paradise, Primal Scream, Rival Schools, Mazzy Star, Tricky, Portishead, Fugazi.

In other words, a bit mixed. Andrew Weatherall or James Lavelle could probably remix to form a cohesive whole......

Some impressive bands there. I've been listening to early 90s music a lot lately so a few of those have come up on recent listens. Like Grant Lee Buffalo's Fuzzy and Underworld's dubnobasswithmyheadman.
