Is anyone else a fan?

I've just read "Kafka on the shore" and I've been completely mesmerized by it. I find it quite hard to really explain why I like his work so much but I think it's to do with the way he combines the completely mundane with the totally fantastical, the mundane makes the fantastic both more believable and more other worldly. I get completely wrapped up in his books when I'm reading them, I think I spent about 5 hours reading yesterday which is quite a long time for me.

Also has anyone read anything buy either Daniel Quin or Kafka? I've had them both recommended to me recently but I refuse to buy something based on a single recommendation.

Read 'The Trial' by Kafka. It's a very good book.

big Murakami fan here. I guess "Hard-boiled Wonderland" would be my fav. "Norwegian Wood" was also great.

they were all great.

Kafka, yeah, but in moderation ;p

Yeah "Hard boiled wonderland" is a particularly good one, I think my favorite so far though is "the wind up bird chronicles" that was the first one I read and it blew me away. I haven't read "Norwegian wood" yet.

I think three recommendations means I'll give Kafka a go
