My answer: Technically, yes.
Band Name: Spooky Window
Style of music: Metallica-like heavy-ish metal w/a little oddly interesting drum work is the only way I can really put it......so far, anyway.
Position: drums
MySpace: Not yet. I am in the process of laying out the framework for the band's semi-official website.
Running jokes in band: How absolutely metal our own Guitar Hero game would be.

Right now, our band is the instrument acquisition stage.
The guitars and bass are all accounted for. All that's left is to find a vocalist and for me to get a job to get the money for the drum set/needed accessories I have my eye on.
(Total cost so far I've estimated to be around $2000-$2500.)

Edit: The framework for the site is up.

Was in one in the 90s called Rehab (no, not that one...the band broke up before the famous one found out...;)

One until about 2004 called the 'One Spirit' band. Both of these were 'company bands', in that a bunch of employees got together and made a band. We had some really nice boards (24 channel) and speakers, and played for a 7,000 person company picnic. Best gig I've ever done (the stuff was so good-sounding that I could hear myself playing; most keyboardists don't...;)

Was in a band in high school called 'Bouree`', after a Jethro Tull song. This was rank amateurism; foosball parlors, picnics, and basements...;)

I'm not in one now. Had to sell the instruments to feed the family. But to the one looking for musical stuff, I still have a timbale and tamborine for sale on Craig's list...;)

I was in some black metal bands some years ago but I didn't like it. I prefer writing music and playing it all myself or with my bf who is a good composer.

I was a band manager for a while back in high school. I was pretty good at it but we parted ways when they discovered that I can be a bit of a Hitler and I got fed up with their artsy whining :P

I'd love to do that again one day though, it was fun and I guess I was good at negotiating and getting things organised.

I'm not 'in' a band, but I used to do sound for a band, and am a few local bands' go-to guy for engineering albums. I don't do live sound anymore, but I still record the occasional live show.

I do play guitar, bass, keyboards and banjo though. I never play live though. I occasionally play on other people's songs in the studio, though only for people I know. I don't consider myself to be a session musician.

One of my friends decided that our group should start a band.
The problem was that all we had was a singer and a writer

I can identify with you about that stage of band formation.

I perform in a folk band, playing for dancers, monthly. I also play the occasional gig with friend's bands, and every Saturday (if I'm not playing somewhere else) I'm playing in a restaurant with friends, although that's an open, unstructured event - not exactly a band. I play flute.

I was on the drumline through high school and college (was the center snare and captain in high school as well). Not quite the same as a rock band, but I consider it to be similar :P

I also played drumset in the jazz band in high school, as well as drumset for the basketball band in college. Backing up a group of 40 brass players unmic'd is no easy feat :P

I have considered working up my drumset abilities and joining a "real" band but thus far I haven't put it at a high enough priority to put aside the time or money for it with the college-work transition.

Want to start a Melodic Death/Prog/Symphonic Metal band with me on bass, 2 guitars, a keyboardist, of cause a drummer and a guy with operatic bass vocals as a singer (it would be fun actually having a guy that has the kind of natural voice that others ruin their voice trying to imitate...).

Currently forming an act. I'm on lyrics, songwriting, keys and bass (yes, we'll need live members to play this stuff). The other member (also very Aspi - not sure if he's DXed but shows many obvious signs) is doing guitar and drum programming. Early jamming seems to combine Joy Division basslines, Megaherz riffs, Sham 69 vocals and Jarre-esque keyboards.

This damn well isn't going to work, is it?

The only way to find out if it'll work is to get the group together.
Regarding my band, we have a vocalist now (The bassist will take that role) and I'm going to talk to a friend regarding playing electric guitar for us.

Yes, we're called the Tiddlywinks. We play whatever sounds cool to us, really. Mostly a lot of stoner/ doom type metal. Orange Goblin, Spirit Caravan, early Black Sabbath, that sort of stuff, really. I play guitar in the band, and am currently saving up for a new Les Paul Standard (take that, Fender purists!). We don't really have a myspace that we ever check or anything, but that's because we're all lazy bums. Running jokes? Drinking games for the most part like the 300 game (everytime something manly happens in 300, take a drink.), that sort of thing. We're pretty cool. But we've never played a gig. Hmmm. :?
