How else would a person feel romance with a stranger or random acquaintance?

Add me to the demisexual pile as well, but. It's actually possible to feel like you know everything about a person in a matter of days, especially if you spend time talking about their childhood, them growing up, and how the live.

But, if you move too fast you are more likely to encounter a situation where things weren't what they seem. Like the person getting diagnosed with a personality disorder and you finally realize that their version of events is a very distorted reality. That all those terrible people from their past probably weren't all that bad, and your dear person is just very, very sick.

That's been my experience. However I'm NOT romantic at all, at least not in the rom-com Hollywood movie way. I'm logical, practical, very direct, & kinda oblivious to my environment. I think of my romantic partner as my best friend but I always had few friends. When I was single & a woman was acting nice & sweet for a minute I felt attracted to her.

My grandfather was 2 years younger than my grandmother. Their marriage ended when her sister hooked up with him. Her 2nd husband was 10 years younger. He died a year after marrying her.

My maternal grandfather was younger than my grandmother. I think it was one year. They never shared a bedroom even despite getting married in the Depression. They had a rockin' sex life and lots of kids.

My other grandfather cheated on my grandmother with her best friend. He ended up killing himself on my 16th birthday. It makes my birthdays really suck. Hence, my crap mood this week.

For her 22nd birthday, I gave my autistic girlfriend a large Kermit doll with bendable arms. I knew she'd like that, and my giving it to her (in front of her family) made her ecstatic. However, her sisters expressed astonishment that someone would give their adult girlfriend what was essentially a toy. It seemed that, in that regard, I understood her better than her family did, however in other ways I was a crap boyfriend.

The cashier girl at Kroger was gorgeous today. :drunken:

You could say I have a type. Actually she reminds me of someone I knew, when they were younger...

Well. I am going to attempt to write a romance.

What could possibly go wrong?

Never know. If this ends up decent then I may publish it someday. I was hit with inspiration lately as to how to tie up some loose ideas I had. I won't say anymore.

I should probably look into portrayals of romance a bit more but I do have some ideas for the story I've been working on.

I'm excited now. Been a while since I've had a passion project.

In relationships I wonder if there's always one person who loves the other person more

Not that it should be a contest but I just wondered

This is why I refuse to date conservative women:

Conservative women aren’t all alike when it comes to sex. Some have adventurous sex lives. With that being said, I probably wouldn’t date someone who was conservative because we wouldn’t be compatible politically. I’m sure it’d be less of an issue if I wasn’t so interested in politics and social issues.

Where I'm originally from it's not uncommon for liberal women to be in relationships with conservative men. I think it's because more women are liberal than men due to women's rights & children issues. I find it slightly funny when I hear about the couple going vote together & they both always vote by their party so botn their votes cancel each other out

I think it matters to me because I’d like to talk about issues I feel strongly about with a partner without there being any awkwardness. In my day to day life, I can’t usually do that because most people I’ve known had very different political views than I do. They’d be offended by my stance on a lot of stuff. A lot of people are more reasonable. Still, political compatibility is important to me, not that we’d have to agree on everything. I just don’t think I’d want to date someone who identifies as a conservative, Republican, or religious.

I think it works when the two understand and respect the reasons for each other's difference of opinion, and know not to gaslight one another with inflammatory headlines. It's possible to quietly respect a dear person while holding a different opinion.

It can work for some. It just wouldn’t work for me because I prefer having certain things in common with a partner - relatable politics is one of them. I care about it more as I’ve gotten older. We don’t need to have the same politics. I just wouldn’t want to date someone who is conservative or religious.

I agree it's a very special relationship when it happens, and it won't happen for everyone.
