People deserve to be loved for who they are inside and out and shouldn't settle for anything less

I'd rather be on my own that be loved for a version of me that I'm not even sure exists

How could it be that a German war spirit like myself is attracted to long-haired hippies?

How is a long haired hippy like myself attracted to tiny women with huge cannons?

Marriage is HARD. Worth it, if you're married to the right person, but it's constant work, self-reflection, compromise, growth.

I can't stand clinginess me

I think that's why I was noticing my claustrophobia towards the end of my relationship. It was like his clinginess to me was suffocating the life out of my everyday toing and doing. I mean I can never hate him for his neediness but that doesn't mean I have to have that in my life. Some women might like being a mother to their partner....not I!

But now I'm not involved with that I feel like I can breathe again but to be fair I didn't realise it was the relationship that was having this affect on my life whilst I was in it

Second the hard work. We've got a three year old daughter who is doing well, bright, kind and full of energy. But my wife can be exhausting at times. She's a great person, but to keep her happy is a handful. Attention, money, shopping, travel, freedom, to have things her way in the bedroom, and for me to do the housework she doesn't like.

Nobody's perfect. She's got an awesome, wild personality, smart and mentally tough, and still looking great at 41, but sometimes I just wish she got a hobby to get lost in so I could have some time alone ...

By the way, my past username was 1986 but I can't recover my pw.

I don't think it's possible to actually truly love another person because I don't think you ever truly see them

I think you fall in love with the parts that remind you of yourself...it's all completely narcissistic imo

I still believe in love/falling in love. Here’s my thoughts on it: People develop warm bonds with friends and family. IMO, romantic love is similar in a way. If a friendship gradually turns into something more as it sometimes does, it’s likely that both people see each other, as well as people can see another person, not that it only happens that way; I was just trying to illustrate my point with a clear example. I think it’s most common to fall in love with someone you have things in common with, but that doesn’t necessitate narcissism, especially not if one is willing to give and make sacrifices for the other person. I’m not necessarily suggesting anything extravagant when I say that. I’m mostly talking about small things to add to the other person’s happiness in some way.

I will say that I don’t believe in love at first sight because I think love takes time and some degree of knowledge/insight.
