Guess what, some people don't have a mother on Mothers Day or a father on Fathers Day, so suck it up and get over it!

<--- Doesn't have a mother for Mother's Day, or a father for Father's Day, or a date for Valentine's Day.

one thing being worse than the other doesn't change the fact that the lesser thing still sucks :?

Welcome to typical male with Aspergers or socially awkward. No sweet heart or no one interested in you for life is common.

It's not quite the same. While it's upsetting when your parents pass away, everyone's parents get old eventually and if you're an independent adult then you don't rely on them like when you do when you're a child. On the other hand, if you're getting older and you've never found a partner then Valentine's Day is just a reminder of your loneliness.

^ So then change that and let Valentine's Day be a reminder to love yourself more. Treat yourself to something nice. Remind yourself that you're worthy of the things you want in life. Enjoy the day to it's fullest without codependence on a partner for happiness.

Read a book, go see a movie, treat yourself to a nice meal, buy yourself something you've been wanting, go somewhere you enjoy being, take a nice long hot bath and have a glass of wine, go get a massage, go snowboarding, go shopping, eat your favourite food & drink your favourite drink - whatever you love doing - just because you're worth it and Valentine's Day is a great time to remind yourself that you ought to love yourself just as much or more as you do anyone or anything else in this world.

Don't have money to make your house payments? Some people don't have houses! So get over your problems! Your feelings don't matter! Welcome to the real world!

That day near again, Valenwhine's Day I call it. I was shocked people actually commit suicide this day for not having a partner they can share with.

Some people have to eat Top Ramen noodles or go hungry so their kids can eat or wash their clothes in the tub because they can't afford a laundromat or even go to one and they have no washer and dryer, get over it if you are broke and you still have your food and can still wash your clothes in the machine and can still eat.

Right now I feel that it would be better to have a girlfriend than a mother or father, my mother is an ass sometimes but still a girlfriend is on the top of my list right now.

"The hand in water isn't like the hand in fire." - Egyptian proverb.

The OP doesn't know how it's like to be young and single for so long time; nor we know how it's like to survive a famine.

It's cruel to mock people's loneliness.

If your point is that there are worse things then being alone on Valentines Day, you're 100% right but at the same time, it's tough being single on a day that celebrates romantic love. I'm not going to be despondent over that fact this Valentines Day like I have in the past because I feel I've made a lot of self-improvement between past years and this year but it still stings especially if you've never had romantic love towards someone and have seen second hand how wonderful romantic love can be- my brother and his wife are expecting their first children, two of my good friends are about to celebrate their second year anniversary, etc. Yeah I could be poor and starving but there's still that strong human to desire to want to love someone and have that love returned to you and it magnifies on a holiday like Valentines Day since it's in your face.

Sometimes I wish this forum had a upvote/downvote feature.

This isn't witty. This isn't funny. This is just being a jackass on the Internet.

Mother's Day and Father's Day do not rub it into to your face that you're a single loser.

I liked the analogy of the house and downpayments, btw.
