I wouldn't be taking lyrics too seriously.

I wouldn't worry about TLC anymore. One third of them is dead and who the hell knows where the rest went.

sounds like you and TLC really do have alot in common after all. except of course that you think women shouldn't be like men and have any rights to individual freedom...

The problem with TLC is that they do disrespect and hate those who do not conform to their standards. I know how NTs can be, they are always putting down others to bring themselves up.

Already they have declared that they are more superior then those people they label with a negative word call scrubs. I don't like snobs who think that their way is the only way.

What about my NT geek friend who decided to use his money to travel the world instead of wasting the money on renting accomodation and maintaining a car in the hope that he doesn't end up alone .

Suppose had standards that all woman that I date should be fin. Do I instantly declare that fat people are inferior?

If I attempted to interpret literally and not a piece of pop junk I would think she is saying she doesn't want to date a jock-asshole.

Right. But if you listen to lyrics from Insane Clown Posse, and try to extend that to reality, then guys are extremely misogynistic serial killers. They're just talking crap to sell records. They don't speak for me, or for anybody I know.

I think they were just writing lyrics about a certain subset of guys who ride around in cars and yell at girls from the windows. This is basically those girls in TLC yelling back for them to move their broke asses along. Lyrics are often about personal experience and this is probably their personal experience of feeling objectified by these guys yelling at them from the windows of their cars. They are just playing the sixes on them. You shouldn't extend that out to anything else. Not in their case anyway. Not all NT women are even going to identify with those lyrics because most women over 20 aren't going to see guys hanging out of their cars and yelling things at them on a regular basis. That's a subset of American culture and not the entire NT culture. You are reading way too much into it.

As to the money thing, those girls made money. They probably didn't want broke hangers on spending it all. I don't think anyone, man or woman wants that. If you work for your money, you don't want somebody acting parasitic and spending it all on you. Most people would feel that way.

Do you interpret this song to be pointed at men who can't afford good clothes or their own house? Because a guy with a good heart and bad luck isn't what this is about.

TLC were/are African American women and a lot of women in their culture say they have a hard time finding men who are ready to be the head of a family. They want men who have a steady job and are serious. Instead they get a lot of men who don't want to grow up. Men who have kids but dno't take care of them, men who don't want the responsibility of their own home, but who live with their mom. Men who don't want to put much effort into their education. Men who do not treat women with respect but instead, hang out of a car yelling sexual slang at them.

That doesn't sound like a nice guy to me...But it does not mean anything other than, they are telling such men to grow up and act right before they can expect their love.

Also remember it's just a pop tune...it has to exaggerate a bit.

It kind of reminds me of my female friends.
They all want to get picked up by guys with cars.
One of them is always talking about how i should tel her when i see a rich and goodlooking man.
