O_o I've never run into that before, and that is kind of odd. Then again, I've only seen a few other asexuals on here.
But to clarify, there is a category that AVEN (and perhaps other asexual communities) refer to as "grey-A," people who might be asexual for the most part, or for periods of time, but either go back to being sexual occasionally or no longer are. Such people might know what they sometimes or used to find attractive. Perhaps the defining thing about them is that they don't have the motivation to act on it while they identify as ase.
On the issue of etymology (I think that's the word for the study of words and how they come about - or is that the one that has to do with bugs?), there have been repeated suggestions for a better term than "asexual," and nonsexual has been suggested, but asexual and variations thereof have continued to stick.
