Is really "attractive looking" an individualistic opinion?

Self descriptions are like horoscopes, there is the (???)-effect that makes them applicable to everyone.

So people choose a possible partner on a dating site and then go on a date, before getting to know them (chatting or so) ?

I don't know, but people need to pick a date from 1000s of people and they have nothing to go on. They obviously can't date 1000 people at the same time so they ditch 990 people based on appearance and only consider the 10 most attractive ones. Of course whether their personalities and interests match up is completely unrelated.

It's the same with people applying for a job opening. They are looking for 1 person, 1000 people send in their resumees. First they ditch everyone without a university degree, then they ditch everyone with a postal code from a bad neighbourhood, then they ditch everyone over 40, then they ditch everyone with a foreign sounding name, then they ditch all women. At that point they are left with 10 people they are willing to invite for the job interview and the other 990 get a letter saying "thank you for your interest" if they are lucky. Very cynical, but that's how the world is.

HR Recruiters are clones too and all they ask the same stuff and say the same bs.

I had waaaaaaayy better chances when the first interviews went directly with CEOs and managers rather than the HR. Sadly, the norm is to be interviewed by those HR devils first.

Yes, that's why online dating is a total waste. At best they also have some kind of matching algorithm, but even if they do, it's easy enough to fake your profile to attract people. And even with a matching algorithm, people will still use superficial looks if they have multiple matchings to select between.

This is the reason why people stereotype: recruiters have to look at 100 or 1000 people applying, they can't talk to all of them. So they just filter out people based on stereotypes. They did an experiment in the Netherlands of people applying with exactly the same resumee, but with a different name. The "people" with a Dutch name got much more responses than the "people" with a foreign name. Resumee was the same. That is why people stereotype, because we can't 100% investigate everyone we meet. I know it sounds awful when I say it, but I think that may be one of the reasons why you were much less succesful in Europe, because people would stereotype you as an immigrant/minority with all the negative things associated with that, so they'll just move on to someone who looks like a local.

If that how it works I must be really weird :D
I made contact on a site with my bf, and then we started chatting, I never cared what he did for a living or any such things. What was important for me was that when we started chatting, it went natural and he was easy to talk to and that we shared the same humor :)

I also did not give him my picture directly; I gave it after a while. I didn't have my picture on the profile, and strange thing was a got a lot of perverts writing to me... 8O

But to go on dates with people, just after reading a profile or so sounds like a nightmare to me...

I am 172 cm tall, and my bf is 180cm... so maybe I am a clone 8O but in my defence I didn't know his height untill I met him in person...

Wouldn't you feel sad if you discover that the initial interest came from your bf was simply because no other girl (or very few) replied him?

I did once a thread with this controversial question, and most females answered they would feel sad, but really....I think this is an ugly truth for many women who found their bfs on dating sites: They had choices while their bfs didn't.

Clone.

I am pretty sure you would feel weird if he turned out to be like me, 162 cm or you would have ditched him later after first meetup.

Clonish individualism!!

Yes, men are no better - but it's not as fun to troll them.
