Most women don’t engage in this behavior unless they are already in a relationship with the man.

Yes creepy I know buy everyone has there own fetishes.

For one, sitting in laps is generally something i've only seen done when already in a relationship, not as a means of flirting.

For another, having a fetish is all well and good, but expecting others to participate in said fetish is a different matter altogether. Despite your desire to have it happen, as well as your friend's attempts at making it happen for himself, going around asking women you barely know to sit in your lap is creepy, full stop.

"But this one guy once got this one girl to sit in HIS lap..."

That just means a guy with deep pockets who tries to be popular with women by buying them free drinks got lucky and met a woman who's willing to flirt to those limits for free drinks. Even if they did form a relationship, it would be based on commerce and transaction, not mutual interest or love.

And that only represents two people, not the entirety of society. Just cos you once saw something one time doesn't mean it's the norm.

Oh good, I'm not the only one that noticed this.

10 years this girl (she looked like a dude/tomboy) sat on my lap at a house party. Apparently it was just a joke but still she was not in a relationship with me when she did it.

And by your own admission, it was a joke, probably at your expense, at a house party, not a bar. I mean, yeah, sure, whatever, fair point I guess? She was not in a relationship with you, true. But she sure wasn't flirting with you either, so... Maybe bad example still...

And again, one person, once, long ago, does not make a pattern.

When I was 20 this random girl at a house party sat on my knee. It was a crowded sofa though so maybe she had nowhere to sit.

How much had she been drinking?

In such a scenario, I’d rather sit on the floor. I think that’d be typical.

It is more common for women to sit on men's knees after they have become socially uninhibited, usually when there is alcohol involved.

Maybe this is more of a British thing, Jamesy. British women are often more 'friendlier' than women from the United States.

2 years ago at the pub I gave this woman I knew (she had a boyfriend at the time) I gave her a compliment and she sat on my lap for a few mins. She sits on a lot of guys laps though.

23 years ago my aunt sat on my dad's knee at her husbands (my dad's brother) 40th birthday.

Hundred percent agree that British ladies are nicer than American girls.

You got lucky and met ONE woman who likes to sit on laps. ONE.

Your aunt and your dad are related. That's a relationship, even if a familial one.

Congratulations. You can cherry-pick some examples that simultaneously argue the point, as well as miss it entirely.

While they do wonders to try to validate your position, they don't seem to actually change your situation any.

Basically, in what way do these counter-examples of yours change where you find yourself today, other than to argue?

Hmm, how shall I put this without sounding offensive to your feminist sensibilities?

British women are often perceived as 'easier' for men to sleep with, and women from the United States less so, from a British perspective.

I'm not saying that is necessarily correct in any way. But it is one of those cultural things you get to know living in a country.
