When you don't realise someone fancies you

I truely wish I learned these things when I was younger, not as a 50 years old. I never had the occasion to learn that. I know how to live independently, how to travel by plane, how to use foreign public transport, I know for languages, but this... I do not know.

A big problem is that i just can't help but interpret common flirting techniques as "agression".
Not detecting hints is one problem (and one that happened often, as my friends {both male and female} have stated often), but even if i realise that a girl is sending signals and hints, i misinterpret them: the common "get over here and talk to me" signals mean, to me "stay away from me you freak", "kiss me already" means "you scare me" and "please come home" can only be interpreted as "ok.. i'll leave now".

The worst part is that i know that i misinterpret it, but i just can't help it, since i cannot differentiate between the 'false negatives' and 'real negatives'. Like someone that knows he is in the onset of dementia, the situation is worse when you realise it...
