For me, it's putting on intricate music while focussing with Zen-like concentration on something I'm good at -__- ...like painting. I'd paint you if that would make you feel better (just throwing that out there).

For me, there isn't a cure... but distracting yourself helps.

Go out with friends. Talk to people. Read things that you can get really engrossed in. Listen to music. Watch movies that don't remind you of your situation. Do things you can concentrate on, rather than simple tasks that let your mind wander.

I hope you feel better. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here.

I'd be very interested to see a painting of me! I think it's true everyone sees a given persoon slightly differently and especially tends to put some of their own image into portraits of others. I have $50 to pay you currently.

I'll try doing that with writing. Maybe start a twitter account and write a book in twitter messages.

I very much appreciate your input.

My picture's on here somewhere, or you could just paint what you THINK I look like. That would be even more interesting.

What are your interests? At least for me, it always help when I'm absorbed with one of my interests. Generally, it involves either playing video games or acquiring random knowledge on the internet. Mostly the latter.

I'll need some picture. It doesn't have to look like the picture, but I need something to start with. Otherwise I'll try an abstract interpretation of your icon/avatar.

As my wise watercolor instructor would say, "If your art is selling, you're not an artist, you're a decorator! "
I'm no decorator.

I'm on this page. I'm an odd one, not your ideal portrait subject, might want to make it abstract in any case!

orchidee - thank you so much for the kind offer, I will probably take you up on it after I go to asleep and wake up! I will try the distracting movies and music suggestions

Magnus Rex, my interest is writing among other things so I'll try to focus on that. Thank you vewry much for your input.

All of this has lifted my mood considerably.

Fill the gap with whatever interests you, and remember, the feeling will go away after time.

There is no real cure. Only time and the ability to see you will eventually get better.

Yes. Distraction helps. Expressing your feelings through whatever works well for you. And time.

It can be extremely painful, but I've found that, for the most part, eventually the pain will subside. It's like a form of grief. Can feel like a physical illness.

I guess it's part of the human experience, and we learn something from it, but when you are going through it there can be a blackness inside that feels like it will never leave.

Be kind to yourself.

Thanks you guys so very much. I will take your advice.

I also just wanted to add, for the sake of setting things straight, that I've realized I've been an idiot and that that I feel so intensely bad now is of my own doing because I simply don't understand the first thing about dating, being an Aspie who never dated. I'm now feeling sheepish for having started this thread and all my other miserable threads because there was no reason for me to feel so bad in the first place. I unwittingly made absurd and ridiculous mistakes cause I'm a dummy. Absurd giant leaps that would be funny if it were in a movie or something maybe.

Knowing that, I'll stop taking things so seriously from now on.

don't be so hard on yourself, other people will continue to be a big dissapointment no matter what you do.

Thanks Auntie Blabby! I'll try not to be hard on myself... but not hard on others either. Trust me I just had a huge revelation the upshot of which is that I now know I'm incredibly socially ignorant and inept, which yeah probably lots of Aspies are so I'll try not to blame myself.
