I do my best to show people that I am a good person, and a good guy to have as a partner. Yet I feel like I am lacking in many things.

Here is a personal inventory of myself.

1. I have black/grey hair, wear glasses, and have brown eyes. I am roughly 6' tall, but rather pudgy (imagine an overweight Stephen Colbert).
2. I have a degree in geography, and though currently not employed, I am very actively looking for employment in my field.
3. Once #2 is resolved, I plan to get my own place ASAP.
4. I am rather self-motivated careerwise, and have well-thought out goals.
5. I like to travel, and I am a creative/artsy person.
6. I do make the first move when I come across someone I might want to date, but I struggle with a lot of the unwritten and unspoken social cues.
7. I tend to wear loose-fitting clothes, but can dress up if the situation warrants.

If you think there are things I can improve upon, please let me know.

2 sounds like the top priority if you ask me.

If you're actually 34, please tell me that you haven't been unemployed since getting your degree.

What would you like to improve on?

People can tell if you're improving yourself just to be attractive to the opposite sex. If you want to improve, it needs to be because you're interested in the area you're trying to improve.

I'm trying to improve my diet and exercise because a) my health b) my budget and c) I just like being active. Being slim enough to attact a male is only a very, very small part of it.

1) Doesn't matter, get contacts. I suggest either going on a diet or lose some weight. You seem like you know that. Time is something you never get back so make the most of it. Don't tell yourself I'm gonna start tomorrow, start now.

2) Get a job, that might help stay busy.

6) Just socialize more. It's hard for us aspies but even talking to one new person a day can do wonders.

7) Look good all the time! You never know when a lady who is interested in you sees you...if you wear crap clothes they can get the wrong impression

It won't work before you get employed.

@The Goggles: I got my degree at age 30, after working full-time for many years, so I could pay for college without using student loans. I have only been unemployed for 3 months. I am trained as a cartographer, and it isn't a very big field.

@Those who suggested the weight loss: Am I supposed to try to look like some male model, or just lose weight to be healthy?

Healthy diet & exercise to get in better shape should make you look & feel better, which will help with dating as well as getting a job.

If you've only been unemployed for three months, I reckon you'll find a job soon enough. A cartographer usually gets a decent income, so your college degree and your training probably speak in your favour.

Weight loss isn't that difficult if you log your caloric intake. Be sure to get enough protein and weight training as well. Otherwise, you'll just end up being skinny fat.

Skinny fat? What exactly does that look like?

Being skinny fat means that you're skinny, but have a high bodyfat percentage.

I think it's important to distinguish between the different types.

Skinny- people who genetically should be skinny that work out and are still skinny.

Skinny-fat-- people who genetically are skinny, but don't work out and are fat around the waist area. I started school yesterday and one of my teachers I noticed fit this description. He had narrow shoulders, had a skinny build, yet was wider in the waist. Means he doesn't work out a ton.
Image dude on the left is skinny-fat. That girl you posted I would consider skinny....

You can be in neither of these, which I am imo. People who work out a little bit but not obsessively.

Fat-skinny-- I would say I'm almost in this category. People who you can tell have wide shoulders, maybe even use to be fat and are now skinny. I would say a majority of athletes are in this category, especially football players. It's for guys who obviously take care of themselves as far as weight goes.

Fat-- Obviously, people who have big genes that don't work out.

It's just my opinion, so feel free to call me out, but that's how I see it.

Do you shower every day, and wear a clean shirt every day?

Yes. I primarily wear a T-shirt and shorts most of the time, but on a first date, I wear khakis and a polo shirt.
