Best Date Movies?

Third date with this girl tonight. Maybe date isn't the right word because we're not going anywhere. I'm taking her home and then we're ordering a pizza and watching one or two movies.

But which movies? I know she doesn't like action or horror. She says she likes a movie with a good story.

Guys. Girls. Tell me, what are your favourite movies for a night in with your potential love interest? That could give me some ideas.

Something not very good, or something we've both seen before, cos we are probably not going to get to the end of it

Honestly you're right. When I was with a previous girl we were unable to get to the end of 300 because we were "distracted" by each other.

I think this new girl likes to take things slowly. We didn't even kiss until the end of our second date. So I'd better pick out a good movie on the off chance she actually wants to watch it.

These movies have, in my opinion, interesting storylines. Not action or horror. And they have either no sex scene, or not much of one. I don't know you or your date, but plenty of people feel awkward watching sex scenes with someone they are already a bit nervous around, or someone they don't know that well.

I wouldn't call that mainstream, though. If she's not into it she'll probably fall asleep!

When I was single, I didn't like going to "safe" movies for a first date. If we saw a quirky, perverse or intellectually challenging movie and it was too "weird" for her, then I'd know she probably wasn't for me.

She's lived in China for most of her life so I don't think she's familiar with cult classics. The good thing is that means it's her first time for most of my movies. We ended up going with Back to the Future. She seemed to enjoy it but she had a bit of trouble following it. Her English isn't great.

A couple of days later we watched Back to the Future 2. She tried to tell me that's not what 2015 was like

I realise Back to the Future is pretty mainstream but considering it's banned in China it's not mainstream for her. Later I'm going to show her My Fair Lady because I feel like Henry Higgins trying to teach her English. We're having a real Pygmalion romance.

She really seems to enjoy watching movies with so I'm sure we'll get to watch a few of the ones on your list. Later I want to take her to the old fashioned cinema in my town. The one where they play the Wurlitzer before the movie starts.
