I was round my cousins once and his mom (my aunt) said too my cousin “girls don’t like the look of you”

Do you think that was a bit of an unfair thing too say?

My cousin is 27 and has aspergers

People do that, yes.

But most people go beyond mere looks.

What was “wrong“ with his looks?

The aunt didn’t do the right thing.

Guys can tell when another guy is good-looking.

Even straight men.

I cannot, I have great difficulty in correlating the physical features of a man to what his female equivalent would likely be

That sort of behavior isn't unusual for mothers of children with autism. Autism is often undiagnosed in moms.

My mother did something similar. (I am a woman.) She told her friend that I'd be an old maid. Men never paid me the least bit of attention.

I burst into tears then. Now I am resigned to it.

Many intellectual types find nerdy women cute.

I find them attractive. I had a big crush on one when I was a teenager.

Don’t give up the ghost, DN.

Yes harsh. My mom quietly criticized me nearly to death, when she was "bad" mom. She was also "good" mom, doing on me. It was awful. She critized my quirks and where I struggled (or not). There was no help offered and no disagreeing with her. She's AS like. Finally in her 70s she's started changing her own behavior for the better. She apologized for a first time. Now it's my sister who is passing along that "legacy" to her daughter. I am surely passing along crap also, but not that one.

What does it mean exactly if girls don’t like the look of a boy?

Use your noggin, Sir.

The meaning is obvious.

It’s a highly subjective statement...and probably not true.

Some moms are blunt. Once, when I was a teen, I was moping around complaining that no boys liked me. My aunt said, "You're too fat, that's why." I became bulimic.

Sometimes I think that we aspies lack "smell". I'm not kidding. We need our own kind. But about your mom: Your mother said that because she was too vain to jointly feel what you were experiencing. She sort of pushed you into another category apart from herself. Do you know what I mean? People including relatives say things but the decisions we make are our own. If I listened to everything people (who even claimed to love me and have my best interests at hand), "if" I listened instead of heard, I'd have been swinging at the end of a rope. They pointed the finger at me, I pointed it right back at them. Da hell wit 'em!! Hold your head high!! Own yourself. If you read my previous post, I'm no longer bulimic, I may be a fat slob like people have commented but I'm happy. I really mean that. :)
