This is a reminder. Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. It is on February 14. So if you have someone you are romantic with (especially your wife), do not forget to buy a card. And maybe flowers are also in order.

I'm painting a picture with acrylic paint as I'm typing this. It's a little picture of a cat licking window glass while staring at a ladybug. Kind of wacky, but also fitting.

I look forward to Valentine's Day each year. I've never been in a relationship, but I still like the concept of Valentine's Day.

I generally go to the drug store and buy a card. A giant card 18" x 24" [46 x 61 centimeter] or larger.

That would generally give me enough space to insert a personal message. Sometimes I would spend an hour penning in thousands of heart with little arrows through them. And then I would write "I love you". Then I would give her the card first thing in the morning.

My wife would normally take the card into work and show it off. It brought her great pleasure.

My NT girlfriend and I have yet to make plans.

We may donate blood on Valentine's Day if there are any blood drives in our area.

That's heartmeltingly wonderful. I would love to hold your hand.

Tell me, are you a relative of Cupid or somethin'?

When I was in Elementary School, way back then during the dawn of time, it was a custom to hand out Valentine's Day cards. They were inexpensive cards, perhaps 40 for a dollar. Generally your parents would buy them for you. And all you did was scribble out the name of the person you wanted to give the card to and then sign it.

In the world today, this custom has changed - at least pre-pandemic.

The modern custom is for the child to order flowers (sometimes just one red rose) and have them hand delivered to the individual at school during class with an appropriate note. It was much more a visual display of affection. Many times the parents of the child would send the flowers to their child in order to make sure that their child was not left out in the cold - alone in the corner - unloved.

But in most cases this custom was more focused on females than males.

Since this year several school are either totally or partially shutdown, I wonder how this custom will play out this year. Are children going to exchange virtual roses?

In truth, I can't see why AuntBlabby isn't somebody's beau...

He's got lots of wit and creativity. And his looks are good. And he's a decent person.

i guess it boils down to the fact that the meat [mate] market demands certain intangible qualities of its participants, qualities that i lack.
