Was thinking about stimming today and I had a thought. In another thread here people were talking about stimming and what they do around other people and what they do in private. First a question to any aspie in a relationship- any stim you would only ever do in private, do you do it in front of your partner on occasion or at all?

Asking because I thought well if an aspie had a partner it would have to be someone they trust. As such an aspie may do private stims in front of that person, that they trust that person to understand. Going along with this it would be like an aspie saying that they trust that person enough to act themselves. Would this make it the equivalent of an aspie saying they love that person?

Hmm... trust is important in a relationship certainly. I am not sure where I stand on this. While I may have girlfriends, my dream of being marryed someday with family I have realized just simply will never happen, for some lucky aspies it will or already has, but I am not that lucky I just dont see things working out like that in life.

But anyways back to my point. Personally I always envisioned that if I was to ever have a truly serious relationship the only real serious stimming I do and ever have done since I was about 3 or so was rocking on my side while in bed at night trying to sleep. This would certainly keep my partner up their is simply no way I could do this while having someone else in the bed with me so i always assumed if I was to be married we would each have our own bed rooms with our own beds. Romantic huh? I dont have a problem with them knowing about my stimming, but would be forced to do it in private cause sometimes I rock violetly, hard enough to rock the bed and make noise, thats why we could not even shair a bed room let alone a bed.

Whatever she does, I wouldn't mind at all; it's just another nuance that makes her unique, another difference to love.

There's some things I do that no one sees; I'd do them in front of her if she didn't mind (we're "one" and all), so yeah, it is trust with certain things, and trust is love to me.

I trust her.

i have always loved giving massages without really caring whether i get one back. ive been called a lap gf cause when sitting next to my bf... i tend to rock for only a few seconds anytime something comes across my mind (kind of caressing them, like a kitty getting settled) and i just randomly squeeze them or lightly scratch... i just get very interactive with them. haven't been told it's annoying yet.

I trust him, feel completely comfortable with him, and stim when we are together, sure-- everything except for masturbatory stimming, because that would be hurtful.

I don't think I stim. If I do, I am completely oblivious to it.

No. Just that you are either comfortable with them, or don't give a s**t.

I've felt comfortable enough to be myself with several people i did not love, and i have family i still love but can't relax around.

I think we all have things that make us unique. Why would stimming be any different? If a person loves you they love the whole package. And I absolutely hate it when people say they will never find someone to love them. If you were guilty of some hideous crime I might could see that, but you have a disability and anything can be worked out. I'm 41 neutro typical and have absolutely NO desire to be the life of the party and couldn't see myself being interested in someone that wanted to be!

Words are not very important to an Aspie, so just because he/she doesn't say I LOVE YOU often, don't take offense. Chances are, he/she is only saying I Love You because he/she is trained to do so (much like most phrases used by Aspies.)

There's no real answer. All Aspies show their love in different ways. Very hard to understand.

I went through the stim list because -- yeah -- I do a couple things that I think can be considered stimming and I just wanted to confirm a couple of things.

Pretty much all of my stims are things I do in private and/or ONLY with people I like a lot and am comfortable with (That's about 3 -- so really not common)

Whenever I do have a girlfriend, and I do feel comfortable with them, I probably stim about as half as much as I normally do as when I'm alone.
