Perhaps this is the wrong forum for this but if it is, well have the mods move it cuz I dont know where else to put it.
I recently came across THIS essay on "why women cry":

Quote:
A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?" "Because I'm a woman," she told him. "I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "Andyou never will." no reason?""All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say. The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry. Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked,"God, why do women cry so easily?" God said: "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort. I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue with out complaining. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly. I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly. And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed." "You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."

This is the kind of thing that makes me wanna puke. Yeah men and women are different but there ARE certain things that both sexes have in common; and one of those things is having emotions.I refuse to believe that Stoicism is biological trait because I am most definitely NOT stoic and Ive also know other men who werent either. I really hate all this mythology about women that they are so "mysterious"and foreign and incomprehensible to men and what irks me even more is when women play along with it. Emotions arent always rational but they are NOT automatically irrational either. When women cry its because they're feeling upset, not just because they're women! I really dont understand this nonsense. :?

There seems to be the traditional viewpoint that crying is weak, and hence unacceptable for men. Maybe mixed in with that is the notion that crying is for women and girls. That's not how I remember it, anyway. I find crying to be very embarrassing for me and other people, and so even though I cried at every other thing as a child I haven't broken down in tears for over eight and a half years now. But I wouldn't call that natural.

True, but if I saw my mother crying and I asked her why she was crying and she said "because Im a woman" I would get VERY annoyed because thats so blatantly dishonest and I would pobably say to her "mom, thats BS! dont insult my intelligence".
I resent women with the attitude that men can never understand them and their feelings. Because the more men view women as foreign and mysterious, the more men see women as objects and will treat them thus so.

It would be a lot less irritating if they didn't use that "feminine mystique" to abdicate their own personal responsibility and drop them on men, at the same time that they emotionally abuse men to keep us in line. There are a lot of women who do know how to take responsibility.

it makes me vomit! I hate that sort of thing, I get sent a lot of emails like that from friends.

A lot of them have husbands and sons too, it makes me so cross and they would not have the nerve to find humour and warmth in something so openly hostile to women.

this is what leads to the war between the sexes and all other stuff thats bad. respect to all genders needs to be made and that sort of crap just undermines everything good in life.

I couldnt agree more. The correct answer to the question posed by the boy(now a man) is that women cry because they are Human, and crying is what humans do when they feel bad(which can be a number of emotions). What makes that story so outrageously stupid is where "god" says to the boy that he gave women a tear to shed which is "exclusively hers" when its so freakin Obvious that men too can cry.

I don't think that "essay" was meant to be taken seriously. It seems like something one would find in a forwarded email; something to "aww" over.

exactly, but you wouldnt aww over it if woman was exchanged with men, or caucasian vs black. It highlights the discusting casual manner that predjudice is acted out in our culture and its not ok. People shouldnt aww over such things, they should be cross.

on the internet it is called 'glurge'. Snopes.com has a whole section on it.
especially when they 'got God on the phone' and supposedly heard God spout glurge.
My Creator doesn't spout glurge, how 'bout yours?
