I have just been in a long distance relationship and sadly the immigration process made the chance of love impossible. Oh well such is life which often blows a cruel blow. The one thing that needs to change is the view and perception of dating agencies in dealing with Aspie clients. I get sick and tired of them saying you shouldn't mention you have AS and furthermore not returning a phone call when mentioning I have it. Escort Agencies are not really the answer to the problem as not having been to one myself but holding the view that intimacy would be kind of removed. What hope is there for Aspie guys in finding a relationship when there really isn't any help available? I think that help and support needs to be available and awareness for Aspie guys so that they don't feel excluded and hurt in the dating process. Don't try long distance is all I say in terms of a conventional relationship as it simply doesn't work and harbouring all of the pain is just so overwhelming. What things can be done and what help can there be made available for those of us on the spectrum rather than just ignorance and solitude?

Uh, you could just do what they ask and not mention you have AS. Mention it to your date later in passing conversation or whatever and see what happens then. What's the problem?

Anyone had experience with the Aspie Affection website ... isn't that a dating/introduction agency for aspies?

I haven't checked it out yet.

no, it is another site of WrongPlanet. It is just where singles place their 'seeking' ads

I wouldn't recommend it. There aren't very many profiles at all.

Hmmm, then maybe we need to put some effort into it to make it work. I would have thought, given the laments of many aspies, something like this should be all the rage. Don't have time right now, but will have a look at it later in the week. Any suggestions on how to make it work better?

Aspie Affection is another site by the developer of WP. The biggest problem with the site (other than its disuse) is we are all so scattered across the globe, there are rarely anyone in someone's geographical location that are looking for the same thing, or are compatable. There have been a multitude of partners finding each other on WP, meeting each other, marriages, babies, all of that stuff, but it has mostly grown organically out of meeting in the threads and getting to know each other.
But it is up and running and if there were a care taker there, like mods are here, maybe it would pay off.
