'Weird' is a pejorative comparison of what you're seeing vs what you're accustomed to. Practically the definition of subjective. I've noticed that some have answered related questions, though you asked only if they were right that it was weird. Your parents think so. As an autist, I find that the NT are not as good at 'objective' as they often assume. Unless you consciously assent to living to satisfy others, I suggest you decide for yourself and thank your parents for their input. Cold one for me, eh?
