I was told to speak up today by an MP. In front of loads of people. So intimidating!
I'm always getting "speak up!" Even when I'm not being quiet people seem to have a hard time hearing me. Maybe it's because they don't listen. Or maybe I talk too fast for some people.

I get this, most people don't say anything (I think they just ignore what I said or pass over it, because they say they didn't hear me) but my mother will often try to correct it. As she describes it she says it sounds like I am "swallowing my words" or speaking in my throat, and I also get the "not projecting" thing. Frankly the only time I can hear it is if I hear a recording of myself speaking or reading a passage, and it sounds awful. People always say hearing themselves recorded sounds bad but whenever I hear myself recorded I wonder how other people can stand listening to me. It's all warbly and gravelly and up and down. It does not sound like this to myself when I talk.

I was sent to speech therapy in elementary school (somewhere in 4th thru 6th grade), so evidently I was doing something wrong. Though I know longer remember what or why.
