Hi:

Do you ever have situations where you APPEAR to say something normal and have other people laughing at you ever time you open your mouth?

I am curious why it happens at all?

I laugh at myself just as much. :) i find it's a great asset to be able to admit I'm silly sometimes. I spent a few years trying to avoid that and it was no fun. I'm so happy just admitting who I am to the world and to myself.

As to why others laugh, one of the tenets of comedy is the misunderstanding. Someting that is said the wrong way, comes out the wrong way, etc.. It doesn't mean the person thinks less of you, it means they think the situation is funny. A normal NT can be in a funny situation, too - it happens to all of us. I remember dropping a tray in college in the cafeteria and everyone clapped - so I took a bow like I was a performer.
One thing I'll do sometimes is automatically say "thanks for coming," for instance, to people as i leave a place where I've gone to a family gathering or something - and I'll even say it to those who live there. So, when it strikes them funny I'll just say, "It's become a catch phrase." And, they agree with me.

Okay, let's try this first post with the new design and see if it all runs together or something. :) (Edit: yeah, I need to skip lines, I wondered given how it looked.

Sometimes people laugh at me if what I say seems obviously socially inappropriate yet I didn't realise it. Sometimes people laugh to ease their feeling of being uncomfortable. Other times they just find what we say to be genuinely funny. I don't mean that in a bad way. They might think we were making a joke.

I often have people laugh at things I say, not in a mean way, but I guess the way I say things sometimes sound funny or like I'm trying to make a joke, when I'm not. Or maybe I don't sound serious enough so people think its a joke or that I'm trying to be funny on purpose. When they do that I just pretend like I meant to be funny.

its because they think you are joking because they don't think that way or because it is random and out of the blue phrase or because its something really obvious no one says out loud, idk? People used to do that to me too, but alot of the time I was aware of why.

Like i said

"hey i'm not weird i'm normal, and everyone else is just abnormal"

and people laughed but i internally laughed because i was being serious and they would never get it.

Yeah, it happens. If anything, try to use it to your advantage—people will tend to like you if they think you're funny.
