ARGGG. Everything about the social interaction is just driving me crazy!! !! I need to type it out, and no better place, I think, than WRONGPLANET.NET to do it.

I'm really pissed off. This one girl I work with just comes at me from NOWHERE on the occasion and just starts attacking me, saying I do nothing. It's really bothersome. It's not as if I bother anyone too. She comes up to me and starts saying that I am not working on my given task, even though it's untrue. I don't understand. The only explanation I can come up with is that she wants to underexaggerate what I do to prove some point.

Does anyone else have problems at work? I'm not sure if I have AS or not, so they, my co-workers may perceive me as 'normal', or NT, where I am not.

It always made a lot of trouble for me at work. For example, my face goes blank when I'm thinking. So anybody watching me work would see me occasionally staring into space - which to an NT means doing nothing. Why is she behind you? Coming up on somebody from behind is startling - is she bullying you?

When sh*t happens ppl tend to look for a scapegoat to blame it on. Of course they don't want to blame themselves or their friends. So they will blame it on the person outside the clique who they percieve as weak and having no friends to defend them.

I try my best to act 'normal'. I wouldn't say bullying per say, it's more like she just goes beserk on me. And YEAH, I have that 'face blank' thing too. I just start staring into space and daydreaming about my subjects, which helps me on tests :D, but not necessarily how my coworkers view me. They view me as lazy, my store manager too. She wrote me up once for 'daydreaming'. Up until then, I had no idea that was a writable offence.

Anyways, she goes beserk and then the next day she acts like nothing has happened. I just don't understand.

She doesn't come up behind me, her comments seem to spark out of herself though, not anything I do.

Yeah, hopefully not though, she's too crazy for me. She's also already in a relationship with someone there at my job....... :?

im afraid the fact she is crazy, dating someone else or that she is too crazy for you doesnt eliminate the likelyhood that she wants you    .......

joking aside, if you want an interesting week, if they kjnow of your condition and know you can get social situations wrong, play on it, say to her that you are aware that NT's act this way sometime when they like people, and that is the locial assumption as there is not ground for such treatment otherwise, but that you arnt interested... :D

I had the most horrible corporate job where people would hide out near my desk waiting for me to space out. They thought it amusing and proof that I was brain dead. Complaining only made it worse. AS is inexplicable to most managers. Today was a horrible day at another corporate job. I was unhappy with being totally bored, exhaused by excessive socializing, and cursed my AS tendencies. I was spacing out, as usual, and caught myself only to mutter "Oh just shut up and work" under my breath. Only problem was I actually muttered it out loud! D'Oh! The guy in the cubicle next to me thought I was talking to him. (The place is so quiet you can hear a pin drop.) He didn't have the guts to walk over and call me on it -- like a typical corporate hack -- he went around the office badmouthing me behind my back. My only ambition is getting a non-corporate job right now.

I like 'NT' people. Some are awesome, like HDS.

I make it very clear to people that I am sensitive and easily rubbed the wrong way...Certain kinds of conversations...i guess the kinds I might wind up with with NTs are TORTURE for me...
SO I reserve for myself the right to back off as soon as I get uncomfortable.

I'm working in a pharmacy/retail store right now. This is just a part-time job for me whilte I'm going to school. Anyways, corporate politics sucks :( You have everybody smiling and being "nice" to you, then you turn around the corner and hear people snickering about you and making fun of you and occasionally spreading rumors about you. I wish "high school" part of high school never existed. Although most people mature as they get older, I think that's only an illusion. As people become older, they become better at hiding their true feelings.

So, I understand what you're talking about when someone goes behind your back and starts badmouthing you.

Re face blanking:

From an old school report of mine--

Quote:
"I will never understand how a child who spends so much time looking out of the window can do so consistently well in exams."

 There we go...

Difficult to advise, really. Perhaps you could train yourself to hunch over your workstation or otherwise convey the aura of being engrossed in your work, during the "space-out" times... It's all about appearance, regrettably. From personal experience you can have the best record in the company and still be thought a lazy butt if they once spot you NOT obviously working. It's not fair, especially when your co-workers spend hours at a time yakking to each other and nobody bats an eyelid.

The fact that people are unable to fully comprehend me is what makes me sick. When they see you bahaving in an "odd" way they immediately label you as being insane. Throughout high school they kept on telling me that i would eventually go mad due to the fact that i studied so much/ behaved "oddly"

I've had this sort of thing happen to me in class a lot. I've also had an NT react to me like Crazy Work Lady, which I later realised was because she had feelings for me and didn't want to. NT's are so wierd - except they're normal :o .

Hey if anybody comes up to me and starts making assumptions based on a lack of knowledge I just tell them that assumptions based on the lack of knowledge is just plain stupid, and you my friend are the kings fool.Or, theres hastily made decisions often prove to lead to a temporary resolution.
