Once I was at my local bar and it was getting towards closing time. In front of me I saw this bouncer/Dorman throw a group of people out of the club.

I then said to the bouncer “those guys you kicked out must have done something bad” the bouncer then said to me “Do you want to be kicked out as well”

Do you think his repsonse to me was very rude?

He was a doorman. They're not famed for their repartee. I suggest you look elsewhere for a polite conversation.

I have a bad track record when it comes to bouncers. They have always been aggressive towards especially when I used to be skinny.

I've had no issues with bouncers.

This particular bouncer was probably still hyped up from the group prior. I doubt anyone would be up for a friendly but of small talk immediately after kicking 5 men out of a pub.

I used to like the bouncers from years ago. They were all gangster types and I know they got quite well paid. These days they belong to security firms and have to hold certain certificates. They're probably on really rubbish money as well for what they do and have to put up with a lot of s**t.

You're a friendly guy Jamesy but they don't really care about that. You're better off just not bothering with them.

You just don’t start a conversation with a bouncer after he/she kicks someone out. The bouncer will think you’re a smartass, and just might kick you out as well.

If I were a bouncer, I would think you’re being a smartass.

I guess he thought it wasn't any of your business.

no, not over the top. Its just a short, sharp way of telling you to "mind your own business". (and its good advice in that situation)

The bouncer was no more rude to you than you were with the piss-poor timing of asking that question. Bouncers can be nice people to get to know, but one has to use some sense in when to approach one. If the bouncer just got done kicking people out, let the bouncer rest, calm back down, get on with the job, etc. A good time is during a lull, such as before the night gets busy.

Cmon, James….think before you strike!

How would you have felt if you were the bouncer?

Forgot to mention I was dancing with a girl that night and I got all shy with her halfway through the dance. Allegedly she said to one of my friends “That guy James told me to f**k off” which I did not of course.

i don't think that doormen are the best people to strike up a conversation with.

A doorman once picked me up by the waistband on my jeans and flung me out of a nightclub.

I was only about 16 at the time. I remember it quite well because I felt like I was flying horizontal and then I landed on the pavement.

Wow, what were YOU doing then?

I stayed away from them cos they only seemed to want to play pranks on the customers and I was already stressed out anyway. If I had reacted angrily at being pranked I could've been beaten up etc.

 I can't even remember what I could have been doing.

Could have been that I was too young to be in there and caused a fuss when I was asked to leave. Idk really
