Often during casual talk, people will start bad mouthing teachers, colleagues and even friends. Am I the only one who doesn't like bad mouthing people? Do aspies bad mouth each other to?

If you have a noteworthy problem with someone, discuss it with them!

I couldn't agree more, if you have a problem with someone, you should take it to them, not talk behind their back.

I think it might be a frail attempt at keeping the peace when people don't go to the sourse of the problem. And to protect themselves ofcourse. If you were to tell a teacher that you hated her ofr instance, that might hurt you, even if all you were doing was telling the truth. But people still have to vent their frustration, and so they do that outside the hearing range of the person they have a problem with.

Well, bad mouthing is usally a sign of digust with someone, and you reveal some of that stress by telling someone else why you are disguested or how they diguested you. This is coping mechanism so it doesn't build up. Really, some times its good to listen, but don't let it be your first opinion of that person

It's weird. I've seen people call each other b****es all in good fun. It drives me crazy, as it's so insulting!

Andy Warhol said "I think everybody should like everybody"

While I'm not a huge fan of Warhol and at first I thought that expression was a bit cheesy, it seems to have stuck with me.

Sorry, Andy.

Unfortunately there may never come a day when everyone likes everyone. Human beings, unlike a hive of insects, are by nature contentious and argumentative. Unlike a society of insects, we are cruel, illogical, stupid, panicky, greedy, violent, horny, etc.

But if we don't strive for something better, our humanity descends into sub-humanity. That's why peolpe like MLK, the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu and Mahatma Ghandi are so precious.

People badmouth one another because it's human nature, like fearing the unknown or hating an oppressor.

Most people are hypocritical this way. They back-stab and expect others to do so, but they also criticize some people for it. They don't mind when their friends back-stab, but when their "enemies" do it, they use it against them. ("_____ said _____ about _____!" "Oh, that's horrible!").

It's one of the many things about human society that I just don't understand. So I don't participate.

It's just really hard for me to tell whether this is normal behavior or just bad behavior by NTs.

I know some insulting is done as a joke, but that is just annoying for me a lot of times.

It is not ethical to badmouth someone, but then in various situations the ethical standards might be different. Any formal organization is going to have high ethical standards.

I sometimes badmouth someone else as a joke, although even that doesn't come natural to me. Most badmouthing isn't about a noteworthy problem.

I pisses me off a little bit when people are judgmental in their badmouthing. Name calling is one thing, but character attacks are another in my book.

I hate it. I wish people didn't do it. I even do it myself (even though I try to avoid it).

People should just love one another, to be honest. Life would be so much better.

I dislike that behavior and always make an effort to keep my mouth shut. Doesn't always work of course, but I try.
