I suppose this is a social skill issue.
I belong to a volunteer organization that does great things but is unfortunately a bit of an old boys club. After two years of basically being lied to and kept out of the important things, I've had it and want to quit. I can let my membership expire, but that's not for another 8 months, and I can't stand it anymore.
So how do I quit? I know without a lot of detail it's hard to give advice, but I'm hoping someone can tell me how I'm supposed to do this. I'm clueless.

by letter or e-mail????

politely informing them you have no more spare time
as other things have come to require your attention????

which cannot possibly be a lie, nor an affront

Can't you just quietly disappear? And then look for a different group to do good in?

Just quit and pretend those people never existed.

I did it to get out of a horrible chess club.

Continue what your doing, when they make you mad enough it will be easier to say, "I quit."

Have you addressed the fact that they lied to you and were not treating you right? Don't quit unless you have, maybe if you get it all out in the open, they will apologize or explain or your relationship can change, at the very least then you can quit with some closure and not simmer over it....

So? I'm not trying to be mean....

If you would feel better lying, than do it, if you want closure then do that.

You might tell them somehow because if you don't they'll probably bug you about coming back to a meeting or something if you see one of them again...

What do you feel like doing? If you feel like you never want to see them again, then don't.

Do what feels good to you.

Nory: what if they learn that he's "on to them" and decide that they want to keep thier doormat? I'm not trying to critisize or be paranoid, just saying.

And from my experience most NTs don't like being accused of anything bad like that, so they deny it or act condescending, treat you like a fool.

I dunno :?

don't concentrate so much on how they would feel but on how you feel right now.
like what the others said just go away quietly like they don't matter, coz they dont.

Slip out the back Jack.
Make a new plan Stan.
You don't need to be coy, Roy.
Just get yourself free!
