haha true. i think it's generally best not to bring up Autism Speaks and reasons you don't agree with them around people you don't know, it can get messy.

Charities in general shouldn't be brought up, unless you only have glowing words to say about them. Most people don't bother to research charities, and just assume the best of them. It's a general rule of society that you shouldn't speak ill of people with good intentions, especially in small talk situations. Leave the serious critiques for philisophical discussions.

damnit you stole that from me

also note all these taboos don't apply if you're discussing this with /b/tards in real life. They can't call themselves /b/tards if they get squicky about pedo discussions

My step-father often asks me about this because of my past obsession with serial killers. It's quite a regular conversation in this house lol but he's just saying it as a joke.

But one thing I have learned is that not all people think it's funny...

Most of these "shocking, gross" things that people react negatively to don't seem to affect me. I usually have a good laugh and proceed to contribute my own details before realizing that the other people were actually disturbed by it.

Oops.

I like horror movies and I have an incredibly morbid sense of humor, but I would never actually DO these things. How about some ideas for topics that are generally accepted? I find that weather has about a 10 second conversational lifespan despite my extensive "research" on wikipedia.

Anything controversial; it's best to just keep your opinions to yourself because sooner or later, you're going to say something that offends someone.
