I've been thinking about this for a while and realized that in many (not all) ways Forrest's relationship with Jenny and Lt. Dan becomes Christ like.

Examples: He wants to help and protect them both,

he lets them go their own way,

and he see's them for WHO they are not what they are.

Are there other similarities?

This is one of my favorite of all time movies..and i think in a way..Forrest could even be part of at least a broader autism phenotype..per his characteristics..in the movie..

More than anything else Forrest did not show personal judgement against other folks..and he treated all folks like his neighbor..loving them like his mother..his dearest mother...

And he was never concerned with worldly riches..and lived in the heaven of the moment..
never asking why or needlessly worrying about life...

No doubt in my mind..that this was part of the writer's intention..in authoring this story...

The only thing that Forrest didn't do..is get people calling him GOD..get a virgin birth..get nailed to a cross..or walking on water...

But he made a huge difference in the real lives of folks..in a healing manner..

whether it was the gift of insights..or helping his neighbor...and caring more about them..
than his life alone..

He was a true hero..and that is how at least some folks in the movie..described him..as such...

and that is probably how at least some people looked at the real man Jesus..
while he was alive...2:)

Also of note to me..is the 'Dude' in the 'Big Lebowski' movie..with more direct references..in the actual movie..to the 'dude abides'....and living separate from the 'sinners'....

And in the newest movie Superman..the Man of Steele..there seem to me more indirect references..in this movie than any of the older big screen movies...

Anyway..movies worth watching..
for folks in movies..who truly live
life...in the heaven of NOw..

I've never watch Forest Gump movie from beginning to end, all in one go.

I've never been an avid follower of Jesus either.

So there we have a similarity already.

Forrest Gump was an only-son.

At one point, he grew a beard and had a bunch of people following (or running) after him, looking for him to give them some sort of answer or guidance.

They were both falsely held up as Anti-communist icons.

I may be the only person who has never seen this movie. During the Jewish New Year the year the movie come out but before it had come out on video (it was video in 1994) the rabbi at the temple I belonged to at the time used the movie to make the point and described the plot and ending in detail. I was one pissed off congregant. Even though it is now 20 years later and I have long since forgotten the plot I still feel weird about seeing it for some illogical reason. The movie probably would not impress me today anyway, the computer effects that wowed everybody back then are ho hum now.

My autism is not a superpower. It also isn’t some kind of god-forsaken, endless fountain of suffering inflicted on my family. It’s just part of who I am as a person.

The basic story, music, and acting are timeless.

PS wait till you see the Moses scene. :)

It's also the only thing they have in common.

Jesus: My god, my god, why have you forsaken me?

Gump: Vacation's when you go somewhere... and you never come back (a reference to his father leaving)
