Abstract Logic or anybody willing to answer,

When and how did you find out you had AS? I ask because I am 26 and only recently suspected I have AS. I have know for a long long time something was very different about me but didn't know what it was.

I guess I'll answer. I tried to be social and it didn't work. I ended up not talking and having severe social anxiety. I tried to date someone and it didn't work. I beat myself up for not thinking about him. I was 22.
My mum actually said I might have it 5 or 6 months earlier, and had I listened then I could have saved myself a lot of heart break.

I was diagnosed at 21, but I discovered I have it when I was 20. It mainly affects my ability to communicate and socialize. I also have special interests/obsessions, which are the first thing that lead me to think I have Asperger's or some other ASD. I was originally diagnosed as OCD, ADD, Generalized and Social Anxiety when I was 19. But when I turned 20 I realized what I have been really suffering from, and that is Asperger's.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my video. I'm glad it has been very informative, as it was intended to be. I'm also glad that many of you can relate to me as an Aspie.

Can't relate.

I don't get to the, "problems with nonverbal cues bother me and I'm unable to supply the desired emotional response, which impacts on me", level.

I'm on the, "has no social ability at all in person part so whether I can look at someone in the eyes and show appropriate emotional responses or not is kinda moot" (I can't, but they're the least of my problems), level.

You speak too well for me to relate also.

I'm glad all of you have enjoyed my video. Although I may have been very well at communicating in the video, the reason is because I was reading a script from my computer screen (you might notice my eyes shifting left to right). I have a very poor ability to have spontaneous speech. I never would have been able to say all that and communicate that clearly if I didn't have the script in front of me. You might also be able to relate to this too.
