1. A woman in our peace group sends out a weekly email newsletter to a list of about 1,000 subscribers. She's been using a service through a group called Riseup. This worked well for a long time (for free). But recently riseup hasn't been able to send out the newsletter after she submits it to them. Their tech support hasn't been able to tell her what the problem is. She wants to know if there are any other free internet service providers she could go to.

2. I have a desktop Dell with WindowsXP (service pack 3), and Word 2002. I also have a Toshiba laptop with Vista and Word 2007. Would it be possible for me to install Word 2002 on the Toshiba to make transferring some old files from the Dell easy?

Not sure about the first but for the second, Word 2007 should be able to open files created in other versions of Word. You could install the file format converters on the older system to allow it to open newer files, though, try this.

If you install Open Office, it will read the older versions of Windows document, and won't cost you anything or cause you any nuisance.

For the first question, have a look at Yahoo Groups. The B3ta newsletter uses it.

what word processing software does she use? What seems to be the problem? Are they not getting the files, or is it coming up garbage? We might be able to look at her problem if you'd like.

Any one of the previous solutions would work fine.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice!

Pakled, I'll be out at the peace center tomorrow. I'll see if I can find out more info on the newsletter problem.

google group is nice for sending newsletters to members.

office 2007 should be able to read v2002 files. It should be backward compatible to office 2000?
