The Mozilla Foundation has graciously released the premiere open-source Web browser, Mozilla Firefox 1.0, today, Tuesday, November 9, 2004. Mozilla Firefox is a highly exntensible, themable browser that uses the same Gecko rendering engine found in the Mozilla suite. It features tabbed browsing, built-in ad blocking (plus a separate downloadable Adblock extension that makes ad blocking even more powerful), a clean user interface, and a simple download manager.

For all of you still using Microsoft Internet Explorer, I heartily recommend making the switch today.

You can download Mozilla Firefox at http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0/.

From what my dad says, even the beta version works well, so v1.0 should be exceptional.

Hopefully Mozilla 1.0 will provide some very tough competition for Microsoft.

I have used Mozilla for 2 years. Since Firefox is basically the same browser, I highly recommend it.

Well I've used motzilla for all of two months, and it's exceedingly fine, so I have no great urge to move to any other. Better is better of course, so if firefox is quicker and slicker etc, then by all means; all I can counsel without, hesitation: ditch Internet Explorer!

mac user's question.

How does it compare to safari?
I was using mozilla with OS9 and was happy with it, but I bought a new computer (OSX) and am using safari at the moment. It reminds me a lot of mozilla anyway.

Mozilla Firefox is what I've used for a long time. I recently upgraded to 1.0.
