Have you ever wanted to rip apart your body and let your soul fly freely? Just get away, for good?

I want to escape every now and then. Under extreme situations and the like, I wish I could just leave far away for a little bit and come back at my lesiure.

Yes. There are moments when I wish I could just leave my world and enter the Star Wars galaxy, or Middle Earth, or Narnia, or even stay a while with Robinson Crusoe and Friday. And then sometimes I think it would be nice to just be here, but check out and watch from the sidelines--kind of like a Force Ghost or something. :)

Yes, many times. It's at these times I usually go find a book and pretend that I am a part of it...

I usually take my body with me, but as a ghost, like my avatar - ignoring the forces of gravity, liquid fire in the veins instead of blood. Change the shape physically somewhat (I don't look anything like that in real life) but still human.

I've gone so far as trying to induce an out-of-body experience by following techniques from a new age book. However, my soul apparently was a little too attached to my body so it didn't work.

Now, my computer, books, TV (and good anti-depressants) help me cope with my escapist notions.

The first song on Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part II readily comes to mind.

I honestly feel like I live too lives. One is this reality and one in my fantasy reality. Escapism is a definate everyday coping mechanism for me. I'm trying to learn to rely on it less, but it's hard to break a habit of a lifetime.

I think that longing for escape and freedom is quite an big part of my personality. As a child, I used to dream of being a soul without a body, living as a spirit of the forest. What a beautiful idea... I also drew a lot and escaped into my stories, which I was always creating inside of my mind.

When I got older, I started to get my daily dose of escapism by listening to music, reading, writing and thinking.

I rip my finger nails off and the blood flows freely, is that what you mean? I guess if the blood didn’t stop I’d be completely free then....

A walk in the desert does people good, or bad....

I escape a few times a week. I abuse substances, and it's bad.
