Hans Asperger was Austrian. The G as in "George" doesn't even exist there. So I'm guessing his name CAN'T have been pronounced like that... Yeah, hard g.

If people would use the pronounciation of er as air and not as ur, the pronounciation of the G wouldn't have been a problem to Americans at all. I mean, it wouldn't be a problem to use a hard G as it wouldn't sound like ass burger or something.

I find the "air" pronunciation quite strange when combined with the hard G. Besides, since Asperger is originally a German-language name, the "air" sound seems quite strange in general.

Yeah, maybe... I think I just wrote it as air because it's kind of the most close one can come to the German er sound in English. We could also say that it is er as in perish.

Another ASS BURGER here.

I should focus on saying ASS JERGER, but I'm sure someone would jokingly call it ASS JERKER.

Which is worse? 8)

Writing phonetics? People are just writing English words similar to.

It's right there, the phonetic spelling is right there "aspergers" You'd only need to write a phonetic way for a name like Siobhan.

In English we mainly use the same way as many other countries pronounce their words.
(a) and - eh?
(b) bed - not B/BEE
(c) cat - not C/SEE

And so forth.

It is not required to use the ABC version. "Do you know your ABC's/alphabet?" Although people DO throw them in anyway.

I don't see why two examples of the pronunciation are used with the same letter "G" and "G" which do you use?

Wouldn't it have been better to use "J" and "G" although some places including France and Turkey that pronounces the "J" as the same way you do for "je" or "pleasure" where the "s" in this word changes completely.

You just need to know where the word comes from and how they treat special characters. There is no real science to it.

And to think, I failed languages at school

I usually pronounce it "Asperger's' because that's how my psychologist and how wilson on house pronounced it.
I voted 'g' like guitar.

It won't let me post the link (even though I was here a long time ago and left for a while, lost my username and well... nvm, none of that is important atm).

You can get the pronunciation by typing it into the merriam webster dictionary link and clicking the sound thingie.

*note: I just remembered my old username was nobodyzdream, lol... not sure if any of you remember me or not

lol, thanks :D I think it was around the time the real NT/AS war broke out for a while there-we had some pretty gung ho people on board and it was just too much for me for a bit. Now I'm finding returning to be quite peaceful and nice :) Missed ya guys!
