Welcome to WrongPlanet!

Even if what your mum says is true, it was not helpful for her to say that.

And since you apparently work for Microsoft, I seriously doubt that's true.

People have said the same things about me before they even got to know me.

If she says it again, you could say, "Good! That means I've got much less crap to unlearn." :)

So, how old are you? I have a 9-y-o (pokemonAl) who has the mentality of an 8-y-o in many ways (though I don't think I've ever said that to him) and, yes, he has the vocabulary of a 42-y-o. He is so darn smart about book things that it sometimes surprises and amazes me.

Now, about his room - yup, might not even be an 8-y-o level some days!

When he gets back on, perhaps you could exchange notes about mentality, vocabulary and mums (moms on this side of the ocean) in general?

Being told you have an 8-year-old mentality is a great compliment.

A writer did a study not too long ago on the great scientific and creative minds of the last 200 years. He found that the one universal attribute that was used to describe these great minds by people who knew them well was "a childlike view of life."

This included people as diverse as Einstein, Steven Spielberg, Henry Ford, and Mick Jagger.

You are in some supremely ellite company.

My mom says I view things through the eyes of a child and speak about what I see through the mouth of a Ph.D. professor! It makes me smile every single time, too. :D
