How many hackers are here?
I'm wondering just how good aspies are with computers compared to the normal population.
42. There are 42 people on WP who are computer hackers.
Also, your second sentence is COMPLETELY unrelated to your initial question.
I was wondering what the percentage is of computer hackers who are aspies compared to NT hackers. How is this confusing?
I'm a little dissappointed that they moved this thread to the computer forum. Of course there are way more hackers who visit this part of WP. I'm not too surprised that 50% of the people here hack.
I would not want anyone reading my emails. I wonder how many aspie hackers would hack into say...facebook or something to see what their "friends" are up to? It seems likely that shyer types would "investigate" social forums like this. I'm not judging, just saying that it's like looking through people's trash and you can't really get to know someone by doing that.

all i wanted was to change the wallpaper!
I've guessed passwords in the past but I don't see that as hacking. I did it at my old job to look at the payroll. My ex-boss was stiffing some of the staff on tips and such. I taught everyone how to look back at the previous sales and that old boss got fired. He had no business stealing from us.
Anyways... My real question should have been, "Anyone here hack into other people's accounts because they can't socialize in real life?"
I think it's a given that aspies are better with computers.

Would you care to start this thread again, Magnus, with whatever question it was you wanted to ask?
I have always been, and always will be, a hacker { for (;;) hack(); }.
I have occasionally done some cracking - e.g. yesterday, on request from a person who (thought they) had forgotten their password.

No, I don't care to restart this thread.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to find out if someone hacked into your emails? I think someone hacked into my yahoo emails and there is no way for me to know for sure unless some brilliant hacker is out there who knows how to do it. I'd be forever in debt to anyone who can do this.

Oi! Was that what you were after. I know that GMail has an area where you can see the last five login times and associated IP addresses. If Yahoo has similar (I don't know, but look around there), you could use it to firmly establish if anyone intruded externally. Of course, this wouldn't be the case if it was a trojan or keylogger on your own system, but you probably already know that.
Bish mork piggle.
You could ask Yahoo. It is in their interest to prove that your email is secure. If you can provide evidence that shows that your email has been seen by another person, other than an authorised person in the employ of Yahoo, without your collusion, I'm sure they would be interested in keeping you quiet.
Accessing your email requires no hacking, hence we're still off-topic. Just letting someone see (or keylog) your password, or continuing to use the default, low strength password that Yahoo initially assigns you, makes it easy for a simple cracker to access your email.

Well, When you say hacking if you mean thing's not related to "hacking into a computer" then good chance I could do it. But if it has to do with networking then I kinda fail. I'm Able to do some programming in c++ and I have a hard time with networking. I mean TDP/UDP POP3/SMTP
Hard to under stand for me. I'm lucky I got my Yahoo mail sort of working in thunderbird and Ypop's crashes every 10 seconds.

I can't really answer that question without knowing what definition of hacker you're thinking of. To the general, non-technical population, it means someone who breaks computer security; in certain circles, it's more or less synonymous with "programmer", with some caveats: writing a little VB doesn't automatically make you a "hacker". If what you mean is programmer, then yes, I've been known to write code now and then; if you mean someone who breaks into email accounts, then no.
Orwell, excellent point.
There's nothing like for me, to investigate some DES encryption method for keyfiles, or SHA-1 based serial and make a keygenerator....Its awesome stuff to know on a technical level, as then you can improve your own products. Plus, cryptography is a very nice field to get acquainted with.
Since, if you know how the cracking pro's do it, then you can make your own software quite well protected, since....you would know thier tricks.
Nice to see more people with the same attitude towards software optimization as I .
Well Iam hacker I do not break into computer networks, but I know a lot in cracking. I love to do linux development and suppport the open source movement, even though I use windows to play games. I am more of Richard Stallman hacker, means finding creativity ways around technology.
I'm not exactly into hacking illegally. I've had a experience doing so with games but I don't do it to mess with people online (because I'm not into the online scene exactly). When I was in middle school, I remember messing around with Pokemon games and putting glitch pokemon on routes, adjusting trainer's dialogue, and their pokemon. There was actually a program I used to do that and it was relatively easy.
To answer the poll, yes I can hack.
