Personally, I give to the World Toilet Organization. This has nothing to do with autism, just toilets.

I donate through my local United Way. The money is used locally and does not go to
Lobbying groups such as Autism Squeaks, instead it is for giving aid to families made homeless by fires or natural calamities and provides food and other help for those in need.

And there is also Modest Needs:

I try to push ASAN for donations as much as possible, then suggest the Autism Society.

I donate directly to the local homeless shelter. Homeless shelters and womens' shelters often also take donations of stuff as well as money.

Nothing to do with autism in any way but I support Amnesty International, DATA and The ONE Campaign.

AI, should go without saying; the latter two give money and much-needed things to the impoverished people in African nations.

Is there any reason why we should not be begging people to give to ASAN? Don't we need lawyers?

I mean, really-- isn't now the moment to take over and demand the resources we need to speak for ourselves?
