I agree about (most of) the people on WP. There are some trolls, and some people who use AS as an excuse to be jerks, but most people here are accustomed to being misunderstood, so can understand when you word something stupidly and re-adjust what they think when you re-word or re-explain. I've found that that's one of my biggest problems among NTs, I put something the wrong way, and then it sticks with me forever! Or I say something that pisses somebody off, and they don't bother to flippin' tell me that it pissed them off, so I go on and on, and they get angrier and angrier that I'm still doing whatever it is that upset them, even though they're the ones who didn't tell me that it upset them. But here people can usually accept stuff like that, or at least bother to say what they mean and mean what they say.
This goes for my re-definitions of words, too. NTs can't do that, but aspies and geeks can. (I've redefined "geek" to mean "aspie without a major dysfunction." So geeks are not diagnosably aspies because they can usually function pretty well, but they think more like aspies than like NTs. Therefore, even if you don't actually have AS, you could be a geek and still fit in on WP. There are quite a few of those around here. )

yeah, i dont like people who would use it as an excuse to be impolite, or have a one sided conversation because that's what they think they can get away with. it's one thing to be genuinly unaware, but if youve been told, and continue to do so, it's a bit selfish and lazy.

The "cure" for AS is undeniable expertise in something that everybody needs, in the same way that the cure for insanity is wealth. If you're different, the only way to get people to quit whining about it is to have more power than they do.

Isn't the DSM adding my definition of geek as part of the spectrum? I mean, not using the word geek, but I saw something mentioning the parts of the spectrum that aren't actually disabling.


Janissy, I'm not the first one to observe that you're really in a league of your own.. I dunno how you do it, it seems like you can understand anybody, on the spectrum or not. (I never seem to flippin' spell your name right, though! I keep usin' two Ns and one S.)

While I'm not Monkey (although I may be A monkey..) I'll butt in here and answer..

NT bashers are the people who go on and on about how awful all NTs are and how aspies are soooo much better. Some of them think that autism is the next step in evolution. In general, they're just as mean to NTs as they accuse NTs of being to them.

and that's really mean! just sounds like a lame way of attempting to get back >:/ besides if autism prevailed then society would fail. we need the majority of NTs for society to work.
i know amazing NTs. while they may not get how i work (i may just be a wonky NT) they are amazing and fun peeps all the same, grr.
