Hi you all,
I'm new here and just wanted to say hi.
A few events -some odd some not so- in the past few months have led me to this forum but I will not bore you with the details just yet.
I'm not a diagnosed aspie but since I started looking at autistic traits, I keep finding things that have "that's me!" written all over. In fact both me and my hubby have been long wondering about why we dont seem to fit anywhere, why we need to take our friends in small doses as they all seem to grind in our nerves eventually, and why we're often called things along the lines of anti-social, weird, odd by other people -when it's obvious they are the weird ones, we make perfect sense
I did the aspie test and scored "you are very likely an aspie" twice in two months. No surprises there.
At the moment I'm trying to see whether it would be really worth me getting officially assessed and diagnosed in the UK or whether it would be more of a hinderance than help. Apparently it's not even easy to get referred as an adult.
Well, that'll be all for now.
Read you around :D

Hi BarkAtTheSun
Welcome to WP and the wee clan of Scots within it as well.

Which part are you from ? My guess would be the east coast if you're getting "haar" rolling in
from the sea :)

Hi Pluto,
Good to hear from a local aspie :D

And good guess! My cave is indeed located on the Firth of Forth

Btw, is there by any chance a Scottish thread on WP?

Welcome here. Re official diagnosis, I would say if you're not having real problems in daily life, there is little use in an official diagnosis. You can go on WP and other support groups without an official diagnosis.

Hi ChallengingGirl
Thanks. I'd already decided against an official diagnosis, as not sure what the implications would be, for example, for health insurance, driving licence (i'm well over 30 and still not daring to start driving in the UK) and things like that. Btw, i've just scored 38 on S Baron Cohen's test :o

I'm just sort of... relieved(?) to realise that that's what's been "wrong" with me all my life. Why people keep telling me that I'm negative or to cheer up, or to smile, or that i'm "too quiet today, something is wrong" (my mother!) :x
