He isn't. He's very, very socially perceptive. His only real AS-like trait is his obsession with medicine... House is a pretty textbook sociopath, actually, just one who's figured out that you only do things you can get away with. Not every sociopath is some kind of serial killer, y'know.

I don't think he's a sociopath, he's just petulant. He behaves like a jerk and has a really cold selfish personality but he's fairly ethical in that he always does the right thing in the end. He doesn't strike me as sleazy enough to be a sociopath.

The problem with "diagnosing" fictional tv characters is that these characters are written by more than one person for a broad audience, so you get a dilution of traits. A character maybe written in such a way that he conveys both sociopathic and AS traits just to keep him interesting. And even if a character is specifically written to have AS, for the sake of entertainment, traits will be exagerrated or the character will be placed in scenarios where someone with AS probably would'nt find him/herself in the first place.

I must admit, though, witnessing hypothetical aspies in the world of fiction can be fun and interesting (when it's not disparaging).

House: highly doubtful. I think he just became a self-absorbed misanthrope after Stacey betrayed him.
Bones: absolutely yes (and completely awesome).
Grissom: absolutely maybe (I love him!)

Grissom seems to be one. House, not really. I've always thought that Robert Goren was an aspie.
